Almost two million followers on Instagram, even five million on TikTok – Jenna Davis can definitely not complain about a lack of popularity. On the musical side of her career, the 20 year old US-American lady is just hitting a first major milestone, though. On 1st November 2024, she released her debut EP Sike. I had a listen.

 

Jenna Davis – About The Artist

Jenna Davis was born on 5th May 2004 in Plano, Texas. She lived in the US-American state for four year before relocating to Minnesota. Davis became popular as a teenage artist and YouTuber. Her first major role was Monica in the web series Chicken Girls (2017), which also lead to a web movie and several spin-offs. In the science ficture horror film M3GAN, she was the voice of M3GAN. Jenna Davis is releasing music since 2016, when she shared Breathing Fire. In 2019 and 2020, she became more popular in music, where three singles of her became rather popular, especially the two later tracks, Under The Surface and 16.

This year, she released three songs, which are all part of Sike. Two of them, FBI and 6FT Nothing, were featured in my Country Music Playlists, the most recent release Luckier has been part of my Country Music Picks for October 2024.

The five track EP lasts 16 minutes.

1. 6FT Nothing

As stated above, the opener 6FT Nothing is one of the songs I featured in here already. It is a nice country pop track with a nice from rather quiet to energetic sections. The vibe is quite easy to grasp, so that the track stays in your mind.

2. FBI

Out of the three songs featured on Flyctory.com already, FBI is likely my favorite. I’m better than the FBI – that’s what you can easily state if you are backed by such a big community. The pre-chorus is the heart of this country-pop track.

3. Really Bad Kisser

Why’d he have to go and be a really bad kisser?
I was kinda hoping maybe he’d be the one
In my head I loved his mama and was besties with his sister
After the first one I was done, done
Why’d he have to go and be a bad maker outer?
We were out dancing having so much fun
Oh man, what a shame his tongue was playing twister
Girl, here’s the kicker, he’s a really bad kisser

A young, beautiful lady might likely attract some male admirers of her age. This powerful and rocking track is giving them advice if they want to be successful – bad kissers are out! A really cool track which entertaining, but also relatable.

4. Luckier

Luckier has been the last single release by Jenna Davis before the EP release of Sike. The song is the emotional highlight of this five song set, telling about finding out that your ex has a new one. The Love of My Life, how he states. I really like this country ballad style by Jenna Davis.

5. Sike

And then, there is the title track, which is also closing the EP. Stomping drums in the chorus reflect the anger and frustration after a break-up. Jenna Davis nicely moves between almost aggressive feelings and quiet, desperate moments in here. Nice one!

I really like Sike by Jenna Davis. The US-American country music lady is showing a nice range of songs in her debut EP. The stories feel personal and relatable and lead to a fluent, good listen. Not at top notch level, but definitely worth listening.
