Looking back to… Puddles Pity Party at the “Bigger & Weirder Tour” 2025

In the mid of June, on 20th and 21st June 2025. I visited the Weird Al Yankovic Bigger & Weirder Tour 2025. The shows were at the Venetian Theatre in the Venetian Casino in Las Vegas. While I visited the last two tours (the 2023 European Tour and a 2022 North American Tour) roughly ten times each, my schedule just permitted these two shows in 2025. I just traveled with tourist cameras and wanted to enjoy the shows. Nonetheless, I had quite some picture material taken with my point and shoot pocket camera. I decided to try something new. A very reduced concert report, which is therefor coming with Pictured Story size pictures (and no gallery). And without the time pressure to have it published at most two days after the show.

In fact, I will split my report from Las Vegas in two sections, starting with the support act of the whole tour (which lasts until end of September), Puddles Pity Party. I am a big fan of the sad clown. I feel Puddles might even be more popular and successful in Europe than Al – at least he is more regularly on this side of the blue pond. I am very happy to feedback about this new format.

About Puddles Pity Party

Michael Geier is the person behind Puddles Pity Party. The 2.03 meter tall singer from Philadelphia has been originally known as Big Mike Geier and formed the band Kingsized after he moved to Atlanta in the mid 1990’s. Puddles was formed in 1998, initially as part of a band, lager as a solo artist. The character is a sad clown, which is typically singing and acting, but typically never speaks on stage. The depressive style of the role is in fact packed with a lot of comedian elements.

Puddles Pity Party is not only popular in North America. The character is regularly touring European countries as well. As a contestant of America’s Got Talent, Puddles made it to the quarterfinals n 2017. In January 2019, Puddles even had a residency at the Caesars Palace in Las Vegas.

Impressions of the Las Vegas Shows

Below are some impressions of Puddles Pity Party’s set from the two shows I visited in June 2025. It is really fascinating how the depressing and melancholic general mood of the show can be that energizing and entertaining. Even the Cry Cam somehow cheers up the audience. For two songs, Geier selected a member of the audience to join him on stage, once as a “guitar” player (Puddles’ instruments are a bit of different…) and once in order to wear a tequila bottle costume. The songs included references to Celine Dion and Kevin Costner.

After the first show, I had the pleasure to meet Mike at the Venetian casino. In fact, it was the second time we met – we happened to sit next to each other at a Weird Al show at his residence Atlanta. A really kind and very entertaining guy – I am absolutely recommend to give him a try when he is touring again.
