It’s four songs on an EP, but also a teaser towards more material. The metalcore band Atreyu releases The Moment You Find Your Flame on 18th August 2023. Definitely a good opportunity to share some thoughts about their music.
Atreyu – About The Artists
Atreyu have been founded in 1998 in Orange County, California. The band had an hiatus from 2011 to 2014, though. Four out of five current band members were part of the band all the time. Namely, they are Dan Jacobs (lead guitars), Brandon Sailer (clearn vocals, piano, guitars), Travis Miguel (rhythm guitar) and Marc Porter MyKnight (bass and unclean vocals). Only drummer Kyle Rosa is rather new, he joined the band in 2020.
Over time, the band has been especially successful in the United States and Canada, but also in Australia and the United Kingdom. However, the last long play, the 2021 album Baptize did not work out too well. Apart from eight studio albums, there have already been four EPs so far. Interestingly, The Moment You Find Your Flame is the second one this year already. The Hope of a Spark had already been released in April.
Atreyu – The Moment You Find Your Flame – Track by Track
The four song EP lasts 14 minutes.
1. Good Enough
Hey you
Are you good enough?
Or are you giving up?
Don’t you know we all bleed the same damn thing
Are you standing face to face
With all the demons in the way
Are you good enough?
Or are you giving up?
If you like metalcore, the opener Good Enough is very likely right in your musical comfort zone. The song is a straight, powerful one with a nice balance of different vocal styles, aggressive parts, very melodic sections. There is always something interesting happening without feeling that the song is breaking into different parts. Great one, indeed.
2. Immortal
You just have to feel touched by this song, when Brandon Sailor is belting out the word Immortal in the chorus. The song is definitely having mainstream radio potential as well. Again, a wide range of musical elements lead to a fascinating composition.
3. Gone
Gone has been the only song, which Atreyu has shared with their fans before the EP release. Again, the chorus is a blast and feels like a rock anthem. My favorite one in regards of the guitar part – especially the solo part stays in your mind..
4. I Don’t Wanna Die
The first three tracks gave you ten minutes of rock’n’roll power – but Atreyu are also great on the emotional side. The chucker-out is a typical rock ballad with a very fine, emotional vocal performance and howling guitars. The song reminds me of some big 1980’s songs of that kind. Great finale!

Atreyu – The Moment You Find Your Flame – My View
Unfortunately, there are just four songs on this EP – but they are simply great! Atreyu did a fantastic job here – the ballad at the end of The Moment You Find Your Flame feels like a perfect finale. Great release!
