My 5th August 2022 update of the Songs of the Week this time features 15 songs. Again, there is a wide range of tracks. I am especially happy that a German artist is the top entry in this posting again.
Dani Suara – Nur ein Bisschen
This edition of my weekly posting starts with the pop-rock artist Dani Suara. Very straight. Dani is an emerging artist from Southern Germany – this song deserves to boost his career.
Höhner – Prinzessin
The change from Dani Suara to the Cologne carnival party pop legends may be a bit harsh, but I had three songs in between which have been handed over to me with a wrong release date (means: they have been released in the past already). Thus, here are Höhner with their Prinzessin.
Giovanni Zarrella – Non Puoi Lasciarmi Cosi
Okay, you might know this one from the Backstreet Boys. I just love the Zarrella family. His family is having a lovely catering service in Cologne, his brother is doing cooking recipes in social media… and then there is this guy. Really nice person, who massively grow in schlager music and TV appearance the last years. Cool cover.
Robbie Williams – Lost (XXV)
New song by Robbie Williams. The British pop legend does not feel that powerful and catching as he has been in the past to me – but the song is still a very nice listen.
Matthew Mole – Goodbye
Whenever I happen to run into South African music, I feel I just learn more about the music scene there. The same applies for Matthew Mole and his folk-pop song. No Goodbye – better: hope to listen to more music from you soon!
Peter Plate – Steh mir bei
I am so sorry, Peter Plate – whenever I listen to your music or just see your name, I still think about your former project Rosenstolz. Steh mir bei again proofs that Plate is much more than that.
Nara – Killing Conversations
Unfortunately, I could not find about too much about this German artist and her lovely ballad. Unfortunately, the social media links on her promo page are even partially wrong. Such a shame – the song is so good.
John Legend feat. Saweetie – All She Wanna Do
Yeah, there is also a chance for modern pop songs to get into this list of tracks. Like this US-American collaboration with pop idol John Legend and rapper Saweeti (whose full civil name is Diamonte Quiava Valentin Harper, wow!). Great groove.
LINA – Offenes Verdeck
I enjoyed her 2021 EP Meins – and I like her new song Offenes Verdeck as well. Lina Larissa Strahl’s new single release is very modern, a very good pop track.
Elina Laivera – Heal
Elina Laivera is a Greek artist, who is living in Germany. I just love this single release. Very gentle and emotional song.
PRINS – Better Now
This is really cool pop – and it is made in New Zealand. Alannah Prins (which is her full name) will be touring Europe in early 2023. Could be fun!
Julian Lennon – Lucky Ones
Julian Lennon is an active musician since 1984 (at least this is the year of his debut album release). Lucky Ones is a teaser to Jude – the Liverpool artist will release the album in about a month. Sounds promising.
Suede – 15 Again
Another long-working act from Great Britain. The band was one of the first who defined the Britpop style in the 1990’s. The single means: there will be an album soon. Fans are looking forward to that one, I am sure.
Alter Bridge – Silver Tongue
The last two songs this week are made for hard guitar riffs lovers. The first song is from Alter Bridge, a hard rock band from Orlando. Headbanging is allowed.
Stratovarius – Firefly
Hat-trick for the Finnish metal heads: after heading the Songs of the Week with Survive in June 2022 and being part of it with World of Fire in July, this is the third mention. This means: thie nwe album is coming soon… And it means: these guys rock!
