Flyctory.com Cons

I enjoyed watching Stephanie Quayle at the 2019 CMA Fest and listening to songs like If I Was A Cowboy. The more, I was curious about her new 2022 recordings. On 4th November 2022, she released On The Edge, her latest album. Here is a review.

Stephanie Quayle – About The Artist

Stephanie Quayle was born in Bozeman, Montana, on 15th October 1979. The country-pop artist noted in the US charts for the first time in 2017. Her single Selfish was an US Country Airplay Charts song, the corresponding EP Love the way You See Me even made it to the Top 3 of the US Heat charts. However, Quayle’s very first EPAin’t No Housewife, is dated as of 2009. Early this year, Quayle released a self-titled album She debuted at the Grand Ole Opry in 2018. On The Edge is her third album release overall.

Stephanie Quayle – On The Edge – Track by Track

The eight song album lasts 27 minutes.

1. The Lost Years

The Lost Years is the only song which has been published before On The Edge. Stephanie Quayle starts her new long-play with a slow piano ballad with an intense, beautiful and personal touch. Love the listen.

2. Like She Is

Like She Is is one of my favorite listens of the album. The song has a nice vibe on the rhythmic side. More than that, the song is simply a nice love letter to her daughter. Beautiful listen.

3. Last Breath

The third song is a powerful country track with a strong touch towards country rock. Great to have that kind of sound by the Montana artist on her album as well.

4. Charmed

The fourth song is as banjo-swinging as this album gets. Luckily, Charmed does not feel too outdated, but the steel guitar sounds and keyboard lines are rather a listen for country traditionalists. Please don’t ride your dog or any other family member in absence of a horse while listening to the song – it just feels you have to saddle something (or someone) while you listen to Charmed.

5. Fiction

Sometimes the truth is stranger than fiction is the key phrase of the fifth track. Again, Quayle is presenting a rather traditional song at the beginning. However, the saloon sound turns into a rather modern contemporary listen, especially in the chorus.

6. Strange Club

Strange World is a typical Nashville mainstream sound to me. Powerful, rocking, 2:35 minutes. Luckily, Stephanie Quayle adds her signature to the song, also due to her very characteristic voice. Thus, the song is a really nice one to me.

7. The Edge

This song is very present with powerful guitar chords and pumping bass drums. Stephanie Quayle rocks again – and she does it well. The title track of the album is a lot of fun to listen.

8. Only Good Will Come of This

Stephanie Quayle opened her eight track listening experience with a ballad – and that’s how this one is closed. Only Good Will Come of This thereby is the emotional highlight of the album to me. A song which is perfectly made to leave On The Edge with a lot of warmth in your heart.

Stephanie Quayle – On The Edge – My View

Unfortunately, On The Edge comes with eight tracks only. The purchase price (Amazon Germany: 10 EUR digital) is just acceptable, however. That’s about the negative list about this Stephanie Quayle release. The album is a beauty and comes with very different songs. Great listen, which deserves a Top Pick! rating.
