Old Dominion (23rd October 2025, Hamburg)

Less than two months after I had my first show at the Docks in Hamburg, I was back at the venue in the Northern German city. Old Dominion played the only German show of their How Good Is That World Tour on 23rd October 2025 – one of the highlights of the German country music concert calendar. I was also looking forward to the support act, Kassi Ashton, who is one of my favorites. Just a day after the 49 Winchester concert in Cologne, great country music with Sound of Nashville felt to be guaranteed.

Docks – About The Venue

The Docks are a 1,500 people venue, right at the entertainment and red light district Reeperbahn in Hamburg’s borough St. Pauli. In late August 2025, I had my first concert report from there, featuring Midland’s show there. There are multiple smaller and major venues in the district, as well as bars and restaurants. The public transport options are easy. S-Bahn commuter rail lines S1, S2, S3 and S5 connect to Reeperbahn in the West, the underground line U3 stops at St. Pauli. There are also several bus connections to the area.

Old Dominion – About The Artists

Old Dominion is one of the most popular country music bands. They have been founded in Nashville in 2007. Matthew Ramsey is the lead singer of the quintet. So far, they have released six studio albums. The latest one is Barbara released in August 2025. Old Dominion has received four ACMA and CMA Awards each. Seven Old Dominion songs topped the US Country Charts.

Kassi Ashton is a US-American country singer-songwriter, who is originally from California in Missouri. She became a professional artist in 2017 at the age of 23. So far, Ashton has released one studio album, Made from the Dirt (2024). I featured her daytime stage set on the third day of the 2025 Country To Country in Berlin.

Old Dominion – The Show

The evening was scheduled to kick off at 20:00 – and five minutes later, Kassi Ashton was on stage, starting her some 30 to 35 minute set. Similar to Wyatt Flores the evening before, she had a reduced band, consisting of two guitarists. With songs like Called Crazy or Made From The Dirt, she caught the Hamburg people early. Later track presentation like ‘Til The Lights Go Our increased the crowd even mire. When she closed he set with Drive You Out Of My Mind, even the security was giving them an intense farewell applause.

Right at the time expected, at 21:00, Old Dominion stepped on stage. Their 23 song set lasted about 100 minutes. Their song selection was a nice leverage of rather new and “classic tracks”. Already at the openers Coming HomeNo Hard Feelings and Break Up With Him, you felt that these guys were happy to be back on European stages. There was a lot of joy and energy at the Docks now. Thus, evening early classics like No Such Thing as a Broken Heart did not boost the atmosphere too much. It was simply already at a high level. Before the encore, though, there were just too many of the band’s most successful songs. Hotel Key or One Man Band did pish the crowd even more. The regular set ended with Songs for Another Time, while the spectators latest had to leave after I Was on a Boat That Day.

Old Dominion – My View

My very densely organized day in Hamburg was intense, but this country music party at the Docks was worth it. Having Kassi Ashton on German stages is simply special. She’s simply got an amazing and unique aura on stage, combined with her songwriting talent. Old Dominion were really good. It’s been great to see how much they enjoy – and appreciate their atmosphere, even though North America did provide them significantly larger once in their career. Thumbs up for both acts!
