After I featured Madeline Juno twice in my Songs of the Week so far, 31st July 2026 gave me a good opportunity to give her a major focus. On that day, the German artist released her new album, Anomalie Pt. 2. Here is my review.

 

Madeline Juno – About The Artist

Madeline Juno is a German pop singer-songwriter. She was born on 11th August 1995 in Offenburg in Southwest Germany. Her artist surname has been chosen after a movie with the same title. She learned to play the piano and the guitar in childhood and teenage years. At the age of 13, Juno started recording cover versions of her favorite artists’ music and put them on YouTube. Already a year later, she was invited to first studio recordings.

Madeline Juno’s first professional single, Error, has been released in 2013. Together with the corresponding album, The Unknown, it was her breakthrough. The single stayed in the German charts for six weeks, the album peaked 24th. Her sophomore album Salvation (2016) was in English as well. Since DNA (2017), Juno started to sing in her mother tongue. Anomalie, Pt. 2 is her eighth studio album. The first part has been released in 2025 and peaked 8th in the German charts.

 

Madeline Juno – Anomalie Pt. 2 – Track by Track

The thirteen track album lasts 39 minutes.

1. Bei aller Liebe

The opener Bei aller Liebe (“Much as I’d Like To”) is a rather slow, but very groovy song. Madeline Juno spreads some dance vibes right at the beginning of her album. The very rhythmic, sometimes, hip hop style high vocals lead to a nice flow in this modern pop track.

2. Suffering In Style

Despite the title might suggest an English track, the song is in fact in German. It is one of eight songs which Juno shared before album release already. The song has very present synth and electronic elements on the instrumental side. The focus is on the artist and her storytelling though.

3. Indigo

Indigo does not introduce too many new elements and styles to the album. Juno presents a very reflecting, emotional story (about a relationship), the song has a nice flow. Nonetheless, the song is a really nice listen. The key reason for that the really nice and catching melody of the song.

4. Gläubig

Seitdem ich Dich kenn, weiß ich was “Too hard to handle” heißt – “Since I know you, I know what Too hard to handle means”. The fourth track Gläubig (“Believing”) comes with a lot of energy. This leads to a very present song in the context of the album. Juno later demands Bitte küß mich (“Please kiss me”) – after listening to that song, the male protagonist of the track simply cannot deny that.

5. Funkstille

After this fight for love, the album moves to one of its melancholic highlights. The song is about Funkstille (more or less “Silence”) at the end of a relationship. A song full of pain and letdowns, desire and reflection about happier times. Madeline Juno presents these emotions in n almost perfect way.

6. Wärst du mir nie passiert

After these two strong musical statements, Wärst du mir nie passiert (“If only you wouldn’t have happened to me”) has a difficult time to be present and catching. Bad luck, as the chorus is a nice one and again, Juno creates a nice and personal atmosphere. The more you listen to it, the more you like the sixth track of Anomalie Pt: 2.

7. Untertitel

The set of three previously released tracks is closed by the beautiful piano ballad Untertitel (“Subtitle”). The song is driven by the lovely, gentle vocal performance by the German artist. It is definitely one of the emotional highlights of Anomalie Pt. 2.

8. Godzilla

Another love song, but with a very different style. Godzilla is a very present, rhythmic pop track. The song is not too modern. Thus the song is a very universal love declaration, which maybe lead to smile at a wide range of listeners.

9. Nicht mit Dir

Nicht mit Dir definitely has a more modern pop style. The song is again rather heading towards a very powerful, energetic experience. Another really nice listen on this record.

10. Frieden im Herz

The following three songs have been shared before album release already. Frieden im Herz (“Peace in Heart”) is the first one of this small subset of the album. A rather melancholic and emotional song, which again works with electronic elements in the rather limited melodic part. The focus is on the vocals in the first part of the song. Later, Juno also has some more rhythmic parts as well.

11. Homescreen

The titles of the album is in line with most of the songs: rather crisp and compact. For example, the eleventh song is simply named Homescreen. In the lyrics, Juno states “I have been your home screen”. Yeah, it is another song about an unhappy ending of a relationship. She is struggling to find reasons why this love story has closed its pages. These songs match the singer-songwriter perfectly.

12. Pakt

Pakt starts rather slowly, but gains quite a bit of force during the three minute listen. A rather typical song for this album – which also means that it is not at all a bad one.

13. In meinem Kopf

With In meinem Kopf (“In my head”), Anomalie Pt. 2 is coming to an end. It is one of these rather modern, rhythmic pop tracks, which simply work out well. Nice one.

Madeline Juno – Anomalie Pt. 2 – My View

I really like Madeline Juno, her music – and also her new album Anomalie Pt. 2. Unfortunately, quite a bit of the record has already been released before the album. Additionally, there are a few “main styles” of songs, which feel to repeat during the album. Sounds very critical, but the talent of the German artist still turns these 13 track to a really enjoyable listen. Her voice and storytelling are simply beautiful.
