KI Klaksvik – AB (U21) 2-2 (1-1)

Some 8 degrees Celsius, constant fizzy rain and wind up to 80 km/h – that was about the weather on 6th October 2025 in Klaksvik, Faroe Islands. For the Under 21 soccer league match of local team KI and AB from Argir, a part of Torshavn, I felt like rather taking my camera position from the stands than down at the pitch. I still struggled a lot with the weather and the picture condition, but I hope you nonetheless like my match report and the pictures from vid Djumpumyru stadium.

KI Klaksvik – AB – Match Report

The teams took a few minutes to get up to speed – I felt really relieved that even the locals don’t enjoy the circumstances that much. Based on the conditions, the match was overall surprisingly good. The guests had the better start, with Roi Christiansson Nielsen scoring after 19 minutes. They could have increased after a failed KI pass back to their goalie, but Rani Loksagard Josephsen could prevent that with a great save. While most of the first half was rather a midfield battle, both teams created opportunities in the last minutes of play. KI was the team to cheer, when their captain Oli Sirdal reacted the best when AB struggled to clear the ball from the slot. With that 1-1 score, the teams had 15 minutes to warm up and dry.

 

Rainy battle continues in Klaksvik

Sirdal felt becoming the man of the match early in the second period. Right in the minute after re-starting the match, the KI captain completed a right-wing attack and gave his team the lead. Soon thereafter, he had a tricky shot from the distance, but AB’s netminder Torkil Skala could even hold the ball in these slippery conditions. The next opportunity in this very agile match was a guest attack. After a left wing corner, Hjalti Reinert Olsen acted quickest and the ball went over the goal line. The score was tied again, 2-2. Thereafter, AB had some nice opportunities, but could not convert any of them.

The teams more and more struggled with the conditions, there were less opportunities and even some minor injuries. In the 72nd minute, though, AB should have scored the lead, but the unguarded Hanus Danielsen could not control the ball after a nice right wing pass. In the last minutes, both teams pushed for the victory, but the score stayed at 2-2.

 

KI Klaksvik – AB – My View of the Match

I wish the French Under 21 team will have similar conditions on 10th October 2025, when they face the Faroese on that ground in Klaksvik. The weather conditions were absolutely ugly – and both teams made a reasonable match out of that. A huge shoutout to the referees, who kept the game under control. I especially felt with 2nd assistant Sakarias Markus Jacobsen, who had the wind and rain in his face all the time. Partially, he could not even unfold his flag any more as the wind and rain drew it back all the time.
