Flyctory.com Pros

  • Nice and illustrating wax figures
  • Good audio guide

Flyctory.com Cons

  • Comparably small

Already in 2022, I introduced you to the very interesting Saga Museum in Reykjavik, Iceland. However, there is a similar place on the Faroe Islands as well, which I visited after having the Classic Boat Trip from there. Here is my review of the Saga Museum in Vestmanna.

Saga Museum Vestmanna – Location & Admission

The Saga Museum is located within the Vestmanna Tourist Center, right at the entrance to the city at the harbor bay. I told you in the boat trip review already that you can get there by bus, but typically you will rather take a car. There is sufficient parking available. You reach the city from Torshavn by driving towards Faroe Islands Airport (FAE) and then taking the respective exit in the roundabout, right in front of Vagar Tunnel.

The museum opening times differ by season. In summer, it is open every day, 9:00 to 17:00 hours. I paid 80 DKK, roughly 11 EUR, during my visit. However, this was a discounted price, compared with the sightseeing cruise. The walk-in price without setting sail is higher.

Saga Museum Vestmanna – The Visit

The museum tells the story of the Faroe Islands and famous sagas of the region in eleven stations. Similar to the Saga Museum in Reykjavik, wax museum figures are used to illustrate the different events. Most of the information is given via an audio guide, which is available in multiple languages. The scenes are sufficiently illustrated. Despite the Saga Museum in Vestmanna is built in very limited space, it does have some

As said, the museum is rather small. Nonetheless, it is quite illustrative. In contrast to the Icelandic museum, I also felt that the audio guide is more balanced. Typically, these are loaded with minutes of information. I typically feel that this can be annoying.

Saga Museum Vestmanna – Services

The tourist center offers a really nice souvenir store as well as as a restaurant with a really nice soup and salad buffet lounge. You find some impressions in the boat trip review:

Saga Museum Vestmanna – My View

The Saga Museum is a nice collection and a good illustration of Nordic history. It is likely not sensible to go to Vestmanna, just in order to see the place – but the village has some other options in stock as well. Thus, I would recommend a visit if you are around anyway.
