Festivals and Open Airs – I Am Looking Forward to Summer 2025

Summer time is festival time. As there are more and more interesting shows coming up, I felt that it might be good to give you a view on the festivals I am looking forward to during the summer of 2025. The post is in chronological order. I do focus on European festivals, there is just one North American exception in it (the classic one…). I give you two or three highlights per month, starting with June 2025. Of course, there is a certain focus on country music, but I will also look into other genres.

My Summer Music Festival Highlights 2025

June 2025

5th to 8th June – CMA Fest (Nashville, TN, USA)

I start this outlook with festivals in June 2025 – and there is simply no way not to mention CMA Fest. I might be there for reporting from the biggest country music party out there (likely). Especially Nissan Stadium features a lot of big names of the genre. I already shared my preview post to the event. Hope to make it to Nashville this year.

6th to 9th June – Trucker & Country Festival (Geiselwind, Germany)

I unfortunately never made it to that Geiselwind classic, held at at least Europe largest road stop. Cool trucks and country music – it is definitely worth to spend the Pentecost weekend in Bavaria in Germany. The lineup features a nice mixture of traditional and modern sounds.

27th to 29th June – Trucker & Country Festival (Interlaken, Switzerland)

Same festival name, a different location. The Trucker & Country-Festival in Interlaken is a big festival in Switzerland. The three day festival features some big names like the Bellamy Brothers and Jessica Lynn. However, also the side stages feature some interesting artists like German Alina Sebastian, who I recently featured in my Hamm concert report.

July 2025

19th July – Seiler & Speer (Vienna, Austria)

My concert and festival highlight of July is definitely the Seiler & Speer open air in Vienna. The Austrian pop and rock band has been founded in 2014 (by Christopher Seiler and Bernhard Speer) and became huge in their home country. All of their studio albums topped the domestic charts and went platinum. The national soccer stadium and Austria’s biggest arena Ernst-Happel Stadion will be a great location for the show. And, on top of that, there are some really interesting support acts. Wolfgang Ambros is another big name in Austrian music, Otto & die Friesenjungs promise fun and straight pop and rock music.

2nd to 5th July – Rockharz (Ballenstedt, Germany)

During my university days in Clausthal in the Harz region, I already visited the first steps of the Rockharz festival. The hard rock and metal festival has moved to Ballenstedt many years ago and grew steadily since then. With Saxon, Sodom, In Extremo or Powerwolf, the four days in the German Uplands promise a lot of fun.

9th to 13th July – Norsk Countrytreff (Breim, Norway)

Easton Corbin, RaeLynn, Erin Kinsey, Jesse Daniel and many more – the lineup of the 30th anniversary edition of the Norwegian country music festival features an amazing line-up. Breim is a 2,000 people small town between Bergen and Trondheim next to one of the many Norwegian lakes – sounds like a great setting for a good time of country music.

11th to 13th July – ADAC Truck Grand Prix (Nürburgring, Germany)

The ADAC Truck Grand Prix at the legendary Nürburgring is an absolute classic. The main event is of course the truck race competition and some other events on the race track. However, the trucker meeting and the action on stage is worth visiting. With Tom Astor, Alina Sebastian, The Wild Ride and Sascha Salvati, there are four very interesting German country and country rock artists on stage.

27th July – The Dead South (Bonn, Germany)

The Kunstrasen in Bonn has become a very popular open air window in the former German capital. Each year, the organizers manage to have an impressing line-up. There are also some really interesting gigs for country rock and Southern rock fans. I especially look forward to the Sunday show by The Dead South. You could also mention the appearance of Lynyrd Skynyrd on 5th July 2025 there.

August 2025

22nd to 24th August – Sound of Nashville Festival (Cologne, Germany)

The Sound of Nashville Open Air is back! The open air space at the Kantine is hosting a full three day event this year, after there was more or less just a full Friday and Sunday lineup. With Cameron Whitcomb, Erin Kinsey and Charles Wesley Godwin, there are interesting headliners. I also look forward to Alana Springsteen and Gareth, whom I recently featured in a Spotlight interview.

22nd to 24th August – The Long Road Festival (Lutterworth, United Kingdom)

August is featuring two of the key country music festivals in the United Kingdom as well. The first one is The Long Road festival in Lutterworth East of Birmingham. It is likely the key summer festival of country music in the country. With Drake Milligan, Midland and James Bay, this one also comes with impressing headliners.

29th to 31st August – The British Country Music Festival (Blackpool, United Kingdom)

A smaller, indoor festival, is held in Blackpool the weekend thereafter. The British Country Music Festival is very interesting as it concentrates on domestic artists (even though there are some international ones). I featured the Festival in 2019 – unfortunately I cannot make it this year due to schedule clashes.

September 2025

26th to 28th September 2025 – Rock Meets Country (Sempach, Switzerland)

This festival right at the Sempachersee in Switzerland comes with a very interesting concept. Friday is themed as Legends of Rock and features bands like Canned Heat or Ronnie Romero. Saturday is named Shake It Up. The headliners are Billy Burnette and Les Greene. The festival concludes on Sunday with their Nashville Night. So far, the festival has confirmed Kendall Tucker, Lexi Tucker – and Chelsea Berman. This is the first ever confirmed appearance by the Australian artist in Central Europe. I have to be in Switzerland on that weekend.

5th September 2025 – Post Malone (Hanover, Germany)

Post Malone and Jelly Roll tour the big arenas and stadiums in August 2025. For this posting, I chose the German venue, which is closest to my residence, the stadium show in Hanover. Hower, whenever you have the opportunity to see these two acts, I am sure you will have a great time.

6th September 2025 – Jeck im Sunneshing 2025 (Bonn, Germany)

I conclude this posting with a very special festival in my birth town Bonn. Jeck Im Sunnesching is another open air in Bonn’s Rheinaue (however, not at the Kunstrasen venue). There are majorly carnival bands and artists on stage. People celebrate the Rheinland tradition with costumes and a great party. I am sure it will be an amazing day close to the River Rhine.
