Flyctory.com Cons

Stanovsky is “greenish” – at least if you base that statement on the title his new album Grünlich. On 30th August 2024, the musician shared his new album. I had a listen beforehand and vice versa share my thoughts.

Stanovsky – About The Artist

Peter Stanowsky, also known as Kaind (or Stanovsky) was born in Stuttgart. He studied music production in Berlin. He originally was in jazz and played in the German Federal Jazz Orchestra (Bundesjazzorchester).. He released the EP Jetzt & Hier as Kaind, followed by his Stanovsky debut album Tiefenrausch in 2022. He is also a successful author. The song Geiles Leben by Glasperlenspiel includes him in the copyrights. The song was in the Charts for over a year, peaking second, with a total of over one million sold items.

Stanovsky – Grünlich – Track by Track

The 17 track album lasts 42 minutes.

1. Der Zukunft Hinterher

The album opens with this modern, a bit of melancholic pop track. Der Zukunft Hinterher makes intense use of electronic elements of distortion.

2. Grünlich

The second song of the Grünlich album is its title track. The style of the song and the voice of Stanovsky maintains a rather dark atmosphere, which is also intensified by the rather slow speed. The rhythm of the track reminds of a heartbeat.

3. Stanovsky – Leergetanzt (feat. Jolle)

The songs in this section of the album are rather short, which leads to a very entertaining and fast-changing atmosphere. This song comes with a fast, stomping rhythm and the guest voice of Hamburg-based artist Jolle. The song Leergetanzt (roughly “Danced empty”) is heading towards the dancefloor pop direction.

4. Jede Taste leicht verstimmt

Jede Taste leicht verstimmt is the title track of Stanovsky’s upcoming tour (see below). The song kicks off with just the piano and the vocals of the artist itself. Later, it introduces a decent rhythm and some decent use of other instruments.

5. Mondscheinsee

The fifth song of Grünlich takes us to the “Moonshine Lake”. The song underlines the lovely and metaphoric storytelling style of the German artist. However, the slow and sad touch of the song will likely not make you smile. It is a short, but very intense and lovely write.

6. Intro

You wouldn’t expect an Intro at this position of the album. In fact these 36 seconds instrumentally lead into the theme of the following track, Zen Mode.

7. Zen Mode

The title already suggests a meditative and thoughtful listen. This is indeed what Stanovsky is sharing with the listener in the seventh track. However, the pop-ish rhythm is adding a nice ease.

8. Ariel

Ariel is a slow dance pop track. Again, the artist is working with some reverb and electronic measures, which are driving the song. A good listen.

9. Cremeweisser Mercedes

The ninth track is about a “cream white Mercedes”. However, it is not a country-alike musical praise of a car, but a vehicle driven by a lady. A song full of emotions and memories – and another one which simply makes you listen and enjoy the tunes created by the artist.

10. Stanovsky ft. Lina Maly – Hass Mich (feat. Lina Maly)

For this song, Stanovsky collaborates with Lina Maly, who is originally from Elmshorn in Northern Germany. The song starts with a folk music touch, but finally turns into a nice pop duet. The title states “Hate Me” – but the song is definitely an enjoyable listen.

11. Avenue d’Augusta

I would have loved to have a full song with that title, sounds promising. However, these 49 seconds are just an interlude track. This time, it is not leading into or out of another song.

12. Lungenflügel

With Lungenflügel (“Wing of a Lung”), Stanovsky presents another very rhythmic song. Some drum elements even feel a bit of angry and stomping. The vocal side, though, rather comes with an harmonic flow. To me, this single release does not leave an as strong mark as other tracks on the album, though.

13. Perugia

Going to Italy now? This song is about Perugia. The song shares the memories about a vacation trip. Of course, it is not a solo trip. Stanovsky is doing nice storytelling and creates a nice atmosphere.

14. Wort mit L

The “Word with L” – I guess that this title even works in the literal translation to English. In the fourteenth Grünlich track, Stanovsky rather heads towards to a “classic” songwriter style. It’s majorly him and his guitar in here. I feel, this ballad works out beautifully.

15. Lonely Island (feat. Rory J Williams)

The fifteenth song is an international collaboration with British artist Rory J Williams. Thus, Stanovsky is telling us about the Einsame Insel, while Williams sings about the Lonely Island. A very present song, which also is rather close to a mainstream listen.

16. Tatendrang

The sheer number of songs on this album already underlines that the artist is full of Tatendrang (“Zest for action”). In the second last song of the album, he is presenting a song about the topic. And turns it into a nice pop listen with dancing attitude.

17. Optimist

The album closes with this piano ballad. I feel that Stanovsky is working out best in these kind of emotional moments. Thus, I finish listening to an album with a smile in my face.

Stanovsky – Grünlich – My View

Grünlich is a nice pop album, which presents a nice range of songs. From emotional and melancholic stories to dancefloor vibes, Stanovsky has it in stock in this 2024 release. Some songs just lean towards being a bit weaker, which prevents a really top notch rating.

Favorite Song: Der Zukunft Hinterher
