My American Express Platinum card offers me access to a couple of lounges driven by the credit card provider. After I already took you to the American Express Lounges in Stockholm and Las Vegas, this posting is taking you to London. The Centurion Lounge at London Heathrow Airport (LHR) is located in Terminal 3. Here is my lounge review.

Centurion Lounge London Heathrow (LHR) – Location & Access

There are numerous lounges at London Heathrow (LHR) Terminal 3. The Centurion Lounge is located a bit of distant from most of the other lounges, but the directions are given very clearly. It is the first lounge after you passed the duty-free area. The initial aisle you have to take is not that inviting, but after taking the elevator to the lounge floor, the impression is significantly more luxurious.

Access to the Centurion Lounge is in line with other Centurion Lounges. You need to have an American Express Platinum or Centurion Card, together with a valid flight ticket for the day. You can bring guests for an additional charge. Owners of the US-American Delta Skymiles Reserve Card also have access under certain conditions. There is no lounge access with lounge passes or by buying in into the lounge.  The lounge opens daily from 5:30 to 21:00.

Centurion Lounge London Heathrow (LHR) – Atmosphere

The Centurion Lounge features different rooms. The largest, which has a bit of restaurant-feeling, also features the bar and the buffets. I stayed in the rather small library-style room. The smaller capacity also lead to a lower level of noise. During my visit in late May 2025 on a Friday morning, the lounge was packed. There may be access restrictions if the lounge is too full. The Centurion Lounge does have a lovely and high-quality style, there simply feel to be too many people with access in places like London – as well as you have that in US locations especially. The only section which was almost empty was the separate area for Centurion Members. A nice feature of the lounge in London are phone booths, which you can use if you need to do business calls. However, when I left the lounge, these rooms were used by “ordinary” visitors, just as the lounge was running closer to capacity.

Centurion Lounge London Heathrow (LHR) – Food & Drink

The food offering at Centurion Lounges is definitely way above standard. The London Heathrow Centurion Lounge does not differ from that. There was a nice range of breakfast items during my visit. The service went well and the good quality items were restocked quickly. Hot drinks and some basic drinks were provided for self-service as well. In other reviews, I read about fridges, where you can help yourself with soft drinks. I did not spot those during my visit. Instead you have to use the bar, which is really nice and well-stocked, but always felt a bit of complicated and bothering to use if you just want to go for a Coke or similar drink.

Centurion Lounge London Heathrow (LHR) – Services

The Centurion Lounge features own toilets and also showers. The staff was really nice and welcoming. The lounge WiFi worked well, too. Especially in the smaller rooms, there is a good distribution of power sockets, while this is a bit of on the bothering side in the two major rooms.

Centurion Lounge London Heathrow (LHR) – My View

The Centurion Lounge at London Heathrow Airport is a beauty. It is having a really welcoming design and thereby especially beats its peer I visited in Las Vegas. The food provided is great. Like all American Express Lounges, you cannot deny a certain feeling of over-crowding. Despite its high charges, the Platinum Card feels being very popular. This is especially boosted by the fact that Terminal 3 features the American Airlines and Delta flights from London’s largest airport.
