For my rail trip to the 2025 Under 15 German Floorball Nationals in Bremen, I was looking for a centrally located hotel. H Worlds International, the group formerly known as Deutsche Hospitality felt to have something in stock for me. The IntercityHotel Bremen, located right at the main station, met my key conditions and also came with a good price. Here is my hotel review.

IntercityHotel Bremen – Location
The hotel is located right at the South side of Bremen Main Station. This does imply some wide range of social groups gathering around, but it also implies a lot of helpful services. There are a couple of supermarkets around. On top of that, the train station itself features a couple of stores, including a couple of basic food options.
The train station of course offers excellent public transport connections. Furthermore, the main tram and bus station is right in front of the IntercityHotel Bremen, so that you can travel through town easily as well. The hotel does not run a parking garage, but there are public parking options in the area.

IntercityHotel Bremen – Room
Already the first step into the hotel room made me feel weid. The room just did not feel like an IntercityHotel. I have shared a couple of reviews of H World International, formerly Deutsche Hospitality – and this hotel simply did not match style and comfort. The rationale for that is that the hotel is in fact driven by another company, Fleming’s. I shared my review of the Fleming’s Express in Frankfurt with you. There are multiple implications, whch exceed the visual impression. For example, there is no fridge. The room itself was not too bad, though. I loved the large space for luggage alongside the wall. The work desk was rather nice as well. The air conditioning did not work well and definitely did not cool down the room to the selected temperature. Therefore, you had comparably much space in the room, which was nice. The bedding was very basic, though – I especially disliked the very thin pillow.

Of course, the shower bathroom did not meet the IntercityHotel design as well. Like the room, the bathroom was quite spacious. In contrast to other hotels of that franchise, there were no branded towels as well. Nonetheless, the room felt very well maintained and cleaned. Basic amenities are provided in dispensers. I had two nights in July 2025, Friday to Sunday. The two night rate was 165.44 EUR. Breakfast was included due to my H Rewards status.

IntercityHotel Bremen – Breakfast
The hotel does have a restaurant, which is opening only on the weekend at the evening. It also serves as the breakfast place. The breakfast was overall really nice and featured a wide variety of items. The buffet was especially strong in regards of cold and healthy items, but the warm items were fine as well. The breakfast staff was not too friendly, they also discussed with colleagues about operational issues in the restaurant room.

IntercityHotel Bremen – Service
Without prior notice, there was no housekeeping during my two night stay. The check-in process was fine, while I hated the check out. First of all, I have been ignored by the reception staff. She discussed things with a colleague in parallel, which also lead to the fact that I had to give her my room number three times. Furthermore, I was asked whether I had a good sleep. You might say that it is a bit of intrusive, but when I replied that I was not that happy with the stay, she simply ignored that. If you don’t want an answer, don’t ask for it, madam. One thing I hated was the WiFi, which was not that reliable and terrible slow, especially in the upstream (despite the technical speed was not bad). I never had similar issues in an IntercityHotel in Germany – another reason, why the hotel did not meet my expectation.

In line with the typical branding of the hotel chain, there is no gym or similar facility.
IntercityHotel Bremen – My View
My stay in Bremen reminded me of the IntercityHotel Al Jaddaf Waterfront in Dubai. The issues were similar: the hotel is flagged as an IntercityHotel, but it simply did not provide the service you provide. H World International should be working on these issues. The reason why you go for branded hotels (apart from status perks) is reliability. You at least roughly know beforehand what you get, good or bad. Thus, the IntercityHotel Bremen did disappoint me. If you are new to the brand, you still get a perfectly located hotel with large rooms and good breakfast. Some services, including rude staff, did not meet expectations in general, though.
