Tigers Langnau III – UHC Oekingen – Match Facts

The audience of some 1,000 gave a really nice atmosphere. Especially the blue balloons of the Oekingen fans and their support gave a nice presence. The match itself was rather tactical and defensive. Both teams acted very respectful and apart from a penalty shot, there were no punishments by the strong referee Roland Kaiser. It took four and a half minutes until Simon Flühmann scored the first goal for Langnau. However, the match stayed close. Only at the beginning of the second period, when Remo Bösiger scored the 3-6 goal for Oekingen, the goal difference was more than two.

Driven by their very solid goalie Pascal Haab, Oekingen gained the lead in the third period and lead 9-7 with some five minutes to go. Haab hadn’t allowed a single goal in that period so far. However, when Langnau pulled their goalie Jürg Siegenthaler and increased the pressure, they broke the Oekingen defense. Two goals in the last five minutes tied the score, so that the match went into overtime. Oekingen first had a great chance, but they just hit the bar. Langnau tried to keep the pressure. After 2:39 minutes in overtime, the incredible happened. Langnau’s Simon Flühmann, who had three goals and two assists so far, passed the ball back to Yannick Glauser on the center line.
