The 101 Best Hotels in Germany – that hardcover book was laying on the work desk when my wife and I visited the Parkhotel Bremen in August 2025. Even though the hotel is “just” mentioned in there and did not make it into that reviewer’s Top 30 rating, there was even a snap of the picturesque building on the cover. Quite a fancy location for a company event – let’s have a look whether the place stands that kind of fame from my point of view.
My employer paid the stay at this hotel. This did not influence my review.

Parkhotel Bremen – Location
The luxury hotel is located at the Southeast edge of the Bürgerpark (“Citizen’s Park”) in Bremen. It is about a one kilometer walking distance from Bremen Main Station. Alongside, you pass Bremen Trade Fair, including the ÖVB Arena, Bremen’s largest multi-purpose venue. It is a bit shorter to walk along the Holler See pond at which the hotel is located. However, if you travel with luggage, it feels more sensible to walk along the fully paved hotel access route. Around the main station, there are three supermarkets. None of them is located inside the main station, though, so that they do not open on Sundays.
If you arrive by car, you can go directly to the premises. However, public transport is a bit of limited. The closest option is the Bürgerpark stop, which is served by buses and trams. local transport is located at the Southern side of the main station.
Parkhotel Bremen – Atmosphere
No only due to the scenery of the hotel, being directly located at the pond, is outstanding. The atmosphere inside the hotel is really posh and luxurious. Especially the central hall, which is used as a cafe overlooking the lake is great. At that location, there has been a first basic cafe in 1872. The hotel as of today has been built in the 1950’s, inspired by a predecessor building as of 1913. It is protected as a national landmark.

Parkhotel Bremen- Room
My wife and I had two nights at the Parkhotel Bremen, from Friday to Sunday in August 2025. We had a corner room overlooking the park and the pond. The way there required two elevator rides or staircases. In general, the hotel is not that well accessible as there were also smaller stairs on the way to the room.
The room had a nice style and a modern design. I liked the large work desk. However, there were just three chairs of the same kind in the room, which felt a bit narrow and not adjustable. There are sun shields, which are controlled automatically. Overall, there were quite some power outlets in the room, even though they were not too piratically located. The work desk also featured UK– and US style sockets. As they were a bit sunken into the the desk, certain plugs will not work with them, though. The rooms have air condition, which worked well.

Our room had a bathroom with a combined shower and bathtub. Overall, the bathroom looked very nice. However, the toilet felt to be squeezed between the bathtub and the toilet, which was really problematic for my body size. Both rooms were also directly connected by a very narrow balcony. Even in smaller body sizes, one cannot pass another person on it. The room maintenance and housekeeping was absolutely fine.

Parkhotel Bremen – Breakfast
The breakfast was definitely the – by far – weakest discipline of the Parkhotel during that stay. The breakfast room again had an amazing atmosphere. The service on the first was not the standard you expect in a hotel like that. It look too long getting hot drinks (and no question later whether we need more) and the service staff blocked your routes multiple time. Sunday morning felt much better, though.

Especially on the warm item site, the hotel did at most level with budget hotels like Hampton or IntercityHotels. There is a live cooking station, which has not been used, so that you were limited to standard items like hash browns, one kind of sausage, or scrambled egg. Nothing fancy, no option for an omelette or – let’s dream – Eggs Benedict, which you simply should get at a place like this. The cold selection was better. In general, the hotel is very good in regards of cheese and also had a nice vegetarian/vegan option selection. Nonetheless, I simply expected significantly better for a hotel of that standard.
Parkhotel Bremen – Service
The staff in the hotel (outside the breakfast area) was excellent. Especially the hotel’s event and bar people were outstanding. The free WiFi at the Parkhotel worked very well, too.

The hotel runs a spa and fitness area, which spans over multiple floors. Two (rather small) levels are reserved for the gym, one is for treatments like massages. On ground level, there is also a (nudist) sauna and steam bath area. It is nice, but the volume of indoor places, where you can lay down and relax outside a quiet room is limited. It is also weird that the door to the textile-free area has a porthole-alike window. Right in front of that door, you can swim to the outdoor pool. The hotel also has a private section of the pond in front, which is really nice. However, there are also locals, who have a membership for that area. As it is not that large in size, it did feel bothering.
Parkhotel Bremen – My View
I haven’t seen too many of the places listed in that 101 Best German Hotels book. However, the Parkhotel in Bremen did not feel to me like a place I would personally name for that list. The (non-breakfast) staff is great and the hotel strikes with its amazing scenery and architecture. The room had some issues and the breakfast was way below expectation.
With that, the hotel is a great example, why I don’t use a checklist or similar to determine a hotel rating. Sometimes, the “felt” performance differs from the services in fact provided. For the Parkhotel, it is unfortunately an impact in the negative direction. You have to say, though, that the hotel is comparably affordable.
