Hilton Stockholm Slussen

4.4/5

During 2025, I have been at the Avicii Arena in Stockholm for multiple occasions. First of all, there were the Swedish Floorball Finals in April 2025. Im May 2025, I had to get to the Swedish capital to see Marc-Andre Fleury playing for Canada the last time. Last, but not least, “my” Pittsburgh Penguins played at the spherical arena in the NHL Global Series, which included a hospitality experience on my birthday. On two of these trips, I opted for the Hilton Stockholm Slussen. The hotel is one of two Hilton options in town nowadays. The location simply felt perfect for my purpose of travel. Here is my review.

Hilton Stockholm Slussen – Location

The hotel is located right at the North side of the Södermalm island. The Stockholm City Museum as well as the Katarinahissen elevator are just steps away from it. You can also walk along the Slussbron to get into the Old Town of Stockholm, Gamla Stan.

Right next to the Stockholm City Museum, there is the Tunnelbana (metro) stop Slussen. It features all red and green metro lines and thus connects directly to Avicii Arena, but also to Gamla Stan (if you don’t want to walk, the main station or other spots in the city directly. Getting to the station needs a bit of zig-zag walking, though. If you visit the hotel by car, it is located within the congestion tax zone. The hotel does have its owen (self-parking) garage, the daily price is 525 SEK, equiv. to 48 EUR.

Hilton Stockholm Slussen – Room

I had two stays at the Hilton Stockholm Slussen in 2025. One was in April (Friday to Sunday, daily rate 1,800 SEK), the other in November 2025 (Friday to Monday, Friday to Monday, daily rate 2,450 SEK) with my wife. In both cases, my Hilton Honors Diamond status granted me an upgrade to a King Executive Room with Old Town view, which is an absolute game changer. I don’t care too much about views from hotel rooms, but this one is simply amazing. Overall, there are three wings of the hotel.

In both cases, the room itself is definitely on the compact side. I also don’t like that much that you have a major round table, but not a proper work desk (even though it comes with a work desk chair). The design of the room is modern, welcoming and overall very functional. You also have a good distribution of power outlets.

In line with the living/sleeping space, the bathrooms during my stays were rather compact as well. However, the did feature a combined shower and bathtub facility, which was a bit of difficult to get into, but very nice. The bathtub was even suitable for my body size. Amenities are provided in dispensers. The rooms were well maintained and absolutely clean. There is daily housekeeping, but especially during the second stay, when the hotel was filled with North American ice hockey fans, it took them quite a while to process all rooms.

Hilton Stockholm Slussen – Executive Lounge

On the fourth floor of the main wing, there is the Executive Lounge. I felt it is a really cozy and welcoming place. The happy hour there does not only provide you with a decent selection of alcoholic drinks, but also with some nice canapés and sandwiches. Definitely, it does not really work as a dinner replacement – but I overall don’t like that anyway.

Hilton Stockholm Slussen – Breakfast

Breakfast is provided in the panoramic restaurant on the lower level of the main building. It was not included in my rates as such, but as being a Diamond member. There is a separate section for elite members in the breakfast room, on a pedestal. On the one hand, this is somehow nice and has some of the best views – on the other hand, you have to take some stairs and wait for staff or other hotel guests from time to time.

The breakfast buffet as such is nice and offers a good variety. There is also live cooking of omelets, a waffle station and other warm and cold dishes. On one day, the staff was also serving ginger shots on your table – they did not do so all the other days I stayed there. You have to state that during the ice hockey weekend, they really had trouble to maintain the buffet, so that some items were limited or out for quite a bit of time. There are items with a local touch, but it is overall a bit of limited in that regard.

Hilton Stockholm Slussen – Service

The staff is very friendly and helpful, the WiFi connection worked well, too. The hotel does drive a gym, which is also open to public members. However, the location of it tends to be a nightmare and – despite of signs – very hard to reach. From our room, you first had to take the elevator to reception level. Then, you had to take a staircase or elevator down to the level of the breakfast restaurant (not covered by the first elevator) enter another wing of the building and from there head back one floor up. As finally only one of the two elevators there is in fact taking you to gym level, it may be very confusing. The gym is a slim, but well sorted one. There are saunas in the dressing rooms. The hotel does not feature a pool or similar facility.

Hilton Stockholm Slussen – My View

The Hilton Stockholm Slussen strikes with its great views from the North-facing rooms and the good and convenient location. The services are good, even though they don’t feel absolutely top notch. Nonetheless, it is a very nice choice if you look for a stay in the Swedish capital.
