Visiting Brighton Palace Pier (Pictured Story)

On a sunny day in summer, British people, especially from London, storm into Brighton. The coastal town is known for its entertainment – and the beach. Thereby, Brighton has a fascinating mixture of a traditional beach resort and more modern entertainment options. One of the Brighton classics is the Brighton Pier or Brighton Palace Pier (the West Pier has burned down, there is also a Marina Pier). I take you there in my Pictured Story.

Brighton Palace Pier – Location & Access

The Palace Pier is located slightly East of the main attractions of Brighton. Sea Life Brighton and the Volk’s Electric Railway are in short walking distance. From Brighton Station, you walk some 15 minutes. You can also use the Palace Pier bus stop and some other stops around to get there by public transport

Brighton Palace Pier is opening daily from 10:00 to 20:00. On Saturdays and Sundays, you can visit it until 21:00. The adult admission (no in and out) is 2 GBP. The admission does (obviously) not include any of the attractions.

Visiting Brighton Palace Pier

A visit at Brighton Palace Pier comes with nostalgic feelings. The pier has been opened in 1899 and still comes with a similar structure. However, it originally featured a thereafter, which was damaged in the 1970’s. Thereafter the pier has been turned into an entertainment district. The total length is 525 meters. You majorly walk on wooden planks, there are seating opportunities along the entire length. At the beginning of your visit, you majorly pass snack and sale booths. Deeper in the sea, when the pier gets wider, there are also restaurants and cafes. The outdoor part of the end of the pier is a small amusement park, for which you can either pay per ride or buy a pass. However, the unlimited ride wristband is 60 GBP (adults) / 40 GBP (children) and thus very pricey. In that area, there are also a coupe of carnival games.

The two pavilions have been turned into arcades. There is a mixture of typical arcade games and (low bet) gambling machines. You can also collect tickets at some of the games and transform them into prices.

Last, but not least, you do have a lovely view of the beach of Brighton. Seagulls might say hello to you as well. Thus, even if you skip the entertainment, it is a lovely spot to hang out on a sunny day and grab a drink.
