  • Excellent songwriting
  • Nice, wide range of songs
  • Good blending of traditional and modern country music vibes

I know many visitors who loved seeing Lanie Gardner at the recent 2025 Country To Country in Berlin. With her EP Polaroids, I am able to feature a release by the female country music artist for the first time. It has been released on 6th June 2025. Here is my review.

Lanie Gardner – About The Artist

Lanie Gardner was born on 18th July 1999 in Burnsville, North Carolina. She has three siblings. Her grandfather has been a performer as well. Her music is typically a blend of classic country music styles and rock elements. She became famous when she participated in David Guetta’s song Dreams, released in 2020. Two years later, she released her solo debut single, Better Luck Next Guy. In October 2024, Gardner released her debut album A Songwriter’s DiaryPolaroids is in fact her debut EP.

Lanie Gardner – Polaroids – Track by Track

The six track EP runs 15 minutes.

1. Takin’ The Slow Ride

The EP kicks off with the energetic country rocker Takin’ The Slow Ride. A cool groove, a versatile performance on the vocal side – Lanie got it all in this one. An excellent starter into this six course country music meal.

2. Boys Like You

The second track is a bit more rhythmic and rather has a nice melodic flow. Lanie shows why you should not mess up with a singer-songwriter. I am not sure whether I would be presented in public like that. The song is a really nice one, though.

Boys like you keep one boot out the screen door
Treat a good thing like a detour
And ride off into the sunset
Boys like you leave ashes in the rearview
Find a new world to strike a match to
Yeah the man you ain’t knows how to stay
And boys like you were only made to run

3. Buzzkill

The middle of Polaroids features the two songs which have been released before already. Buzzkill is another really cool track. The instruments and melody is a rather traditional country music sound. However, the accentuated vocals and the present rhythm lead to a very modern sound, which overall embraces a wide range of listeners. Great one.

4. Concrete Cowboy

But she couldn’t survive your heart of concrete, cowboy – again, Gardner puts a love story into magical lyrics. This time, the song overall feels very modern and leans into country pop.

5. Hold Your Horses

The last two songs of the EP are previously unreleased ones again. The style of Hold Your Horses reminds me of Buzzkill. Gardner is mastering to make the traditional style melody sound modern and catching, even for modern country music listeners.

6. Little Bit Of Lovin’

The EP closes with the two minute song Little Bit Of Lovin’. I feel it is the weakest spot of the album. The very modern song comes with a nice groove, but does not deliver that catching feeling of the other songs to me.

Ain’t it funny what a little bit of lovin’ can do
It’s always keepin’ me runnin’ to you
Yeah we got that just can’t get enough
Strong and steady kind of touch
When you know that you got something to lose
Ain’t it funny what a little bit of lovin’ can do

Lanie Gardner – Polaroids – My View

Even though I feel that the last track does not work out as well as the others, Polaroid is a really good EP. Lanie Gardner strikes with good storytelling and blending modern and traditional sounds. She is definitely one of the most fascinating upcoming country artists currently – and underlines that with this release.

Favorite Song: Takin’ The Slow Ride
