  • Nice new design
  • Great staff

Flyctory.com Cons

  • Comparably small

On my trip to Bremen and Stockholm in May 2025, I had quite some time to spend before a Rock of Ages show in Bremen. Arriving to the city by rail gave me the opportunity to enjoy some hours at the DB Lounge (German Rail Lounge) at Bremen Main Station. I was really curious as the lounge has been rather recently renovated. Here is my review.

DB Lounge Bremen – Location & Access

The DB Lounge is located behind a gallery on one side of the main hall of Bremen main station. You can either use stairs or an elevator there. The lounge has direct access to platform 1. As the ordinary elevator to platform 1 was closed for maintenance, ordinary passengers were able to use the lounge elevator, which lead to a rather crowded feeling. However, the staff was great and cared about that this was not too bothering.

Lounge access to German rail lounges is complex. The two typical ways to get access is either having a flexible First Class ticket which takes you out of the boundaries of the regional public transport authorities or a high tier status at Deutsche Bahn’s bahn.bonus frequent traveler program. The lounge is open from 6:30 to 21:00 from Monday to Friday and 8:00 to 20:00 on weekends.

DB Lounge Bremen – Atmosphere

The lounge is comparably small. I guess it can accommodate some 30 people comfortably. However, its location and the wall behind the reception desk offers quite some privacy and leads to a very cozy and comfortable feeling. Despite the small size, the lounge does offer different kinds of seating. This includes an elevated work desk with barstool-alike seats. A really nice feature of the lounge are its windows, which give you a nice view of the square in front of Bremen Main Station.

DB Lounge Bremen- Food & Drink

The drink situation is in line with the normal Deutsche Bahn offering. There is a dispenser for soft drinks as well as a coffee machine, which also offers vegetable broth, milk, hot chocolate and tea water. DB Lounges do not provide food. However, there was a promotional campaign so that you could get free protein bars. There are also some newspapers and magazines available for guests during their stay.

DB Lounge Bremen – Services

The staff was really lovely and friendly. The lounge does offer a toilet exclusively for lounge visitors. However, it requires some steps outside the lounge to get there. The doors to the lounge toilet are protected by a key code you get at the lounge’s reception. I really love the new design of German rail lounge toilets – and it is definitely a big plus having them compared to the public ones in German stations. The WiFi connection in the lounge worked well. A nice unintentional feature is that the lounge is located right above a McDonald’s restaurant. Thus, if for any reason the lounge WiFi is failing, you can connect to their hotspot as well.

DB Lounge Bremen – My View

The German Rai Lounge in Bremen is rather small. I could imagine that it can be extremely packed during key traveling times. However, despite I have been there on a Friday afternoon, I had a really relaxed time. The service is fine and the staff is great. No food and also no vending machine (which some lounge used to have…). I was really thankful for being able to use that place.
