After I featured the museum at KISS World in Las Vegas already, it is time to also take you to the sports part. Apart from the amazing collection of KISS memorabilia, you can also have a round of mini golf in the exhibition. Of course, the courses are themed after the famous heavy metal band from New York City. Enjoy this rocking 18 hole trip with me.
KISS Mini Golf – Location & Admission
KISS Mini Golf (or KISS World Mini Golf, depending on the source) is located in the Rio Hotel & Casino. The place is West of the strip, also on the West of I-15. Parking in the casino was free during my stay. I don’t like walking over the Interstate bridge too much, but if you are on the strip, you can also go for that. There is also a public bus stopping in front of the resort (line 202, stop WB Flamingo after Hotel Rio)
You can pre-book your tee time at the KISS Mini Golf online on their website. Per person, a game is 11.95 USD. However, during our visit, the place was not too crowded and you might also just walk in. KISS World recommends you to call them beforehand. I would definiotely recommend to go for a combined ticket, including the exhibition, which is 20 USD. As always in Vegas, there are coupons around to reduce the ticket price.
KISS World – The Exhibition
I already featured the amazing Kiss World exhibition in a separate review:
KISS Mini Golf – Atmosphere
The mini golf course is using carpet and artificial turf in the style of a black light course. The courses partially run on different material, which gives you a bit of an additional challenge while playing. Of course, the corresponding soundtrack is hammering in the background – how else could you get into the right mood? The tee-off spots are marked. Some of these mats were very soft, which lead to some difficulties of being precise. Overall, we felt that KISS Mini Golf was well maintained, so that there were no unexpected dents or similar in the ground, making it unnecessarily hard to play. In order to pass a party, we jumped from hole 1 to hole 5 and played the other courses later.
KISS Mini Golf – The Course
Most of the courses are flat and don’t work with elevations. However, the references to the band are really nice and don’t just consist of the artwork on the wall. For example, right on the first hole you play underneath an over-scale model of famous boots by Gene Simmons. The fifth hole uses tunnels – if you don’t hit them correctly, you have quite a challenge and have to use the borders of the course. The sixth hole features a couple of KISS drums as obstacles. There is also some sort of lucky wheel where you can put a task on your or your mates (which we ignored. Nine 9 features a looping. All of these obstacles are somehow designed in a KISS way, which is very atmospheric.
Hole 11 is one of the optic highlights of KISS Mini Golf. You play up a ramp into the model of a guitar. The holes thereafter are not too challenging, but the design just makes it fun to play. The very last hole is playing the ball up the tongue of Simmons. It is another highlight of your play.
KISS Mini Golf – Services
The staff was very friendly. The reception serves both, the museum and the mini golf. This also means you can enjoy the souvenir store I showed you in the previous post already. The casino as such offers some nice dining options – and you may gamble as well. However, I felt that there are better spots to hang out in Las Vegas than the Rio. Therefor, you don’t have to fight the masses like in more popular spots in Sin City.
KISS Mini Golf – My View
KISS Mini Golf is a really nice experience. The atmosphere is very nice and relaxed (unless you are not bothered by loud heavy metal music). The courses do have their challenges, but are not overwhelmingly hard. Therefor the atmosphere is amazing. Compared to other Las Vegas locations, the price is also really nice – especially if you go for the combined ticket.
