The Hilton Manchester Deansgate in Manchester is lovely – but depending on your plans in the city, I am not the biggest fan of its location. Thus, I already had two stays at the DoubleTree by Hilton – Manchester Piccadilly, where I love the location significantly more. Here is my review, based on stays in March 2023 and in October 2025.

DoubleTree Manchester Piccadilly- Location
The DoubleTree is located right North of Manchester Piccadilly Station, the main train station in town. From the hotel, it is just a short walk to the station (which has direct rail connections to Manchester Airport (MAN)) or to the free city buses. The regional / national Manchester Coach Station is some two blocks away. You also reach the city center rather easily by a short walk. An alternative travel option is the metro Metrolink – the stations Piccadilly (for the train station) and Piccadilly Gardens are a five minutes walk away each. I strictly discourage to use this tram / metro to the airport, though. The connection is very cheap (and included in a day ticket or weekend ticket), but extremely lengthy and bothering.
The area features multiple hotels, bars and restaurants.
DoubleTree Manchester Piccadilly – Room
The first stay I had was a two night stay in March 2023, Friday to Sunday. The non-refundable rate for a standard king room was 279.30 GBP. As a Hilton Honors Diamond member, I received an upgrade to a Corner Superior Room and free breakfast. The room was a bit of narrow around the bed, but had an interesting layout. I liked the work desk, which unfortunately was partially taken by the (comparably small) TV set. The key feature of the room was the round oriel-alike corner, which felt like a cozy place to read a book or do similar things.

The bathroom in the room was a bit of compact, but overall got its job done well. The sink and shower came with amenities in dispensers. There was some space to store your toiletries as well. As you see, the room was coming with a rather traditional design, but it was functional. I loved the view of the traffic around the train station. The sound insulation of the hotel is good so that you are not bothered by the street noise. However, there few some minor maintenance issues, including stains on the curtains, which obviously should not happen. Apart from those, the room was clean.

2025 Stay
My stay in October 2025 was a one night stay, Saturday to Sunday. Again, I had booked a standard king and have been upgraded to a King Deluxe Room on the 9th floor of the building. The room had a traditional layout and overall felt more luxurious. Another key difference was that the fridge was filled with complimentary drinks and snacks. Therefor, there was not work desk, just a round table in the corner. The shower bathroom felt more spacious as well. This time, there were no maintenance or housekeeping issues. The nominal price for the stay was quite high so that I used points for that night.

DoubleTree Manchester Piccadilly – Breakfast
Breakfast is served in the restaurant on the ground floor. It is majorly an English breakfast buffet. A “deli corner” offers juices and other healthy options. Despite the hotel was very well booked, the staff was providing very good service during the stay. Thus, the breakfast at the DoubleTree was absolutely enjoyable.

DoubleTree Manchester Piccadilly – Service
The staff was very kind and helpful during check-in and check-out. Visiting a DoubleTree obviously means that you get a complimentary cookie. The internet connection by WiFi worked very well. You should note that there are three elevators for the relatively large hotel, which can lead to a bit of waiting during peak times. On the first floor, there is also a rather gym for the hotel guests.

DoubleTree Manchester Piccadilly – My View
The DoubleTree by Hilton Manchester Piccadilly is a very convenient stay at a good location. The issues in the room and the rather traditional design, especially compared to the nice lobby, lead to a slight devaluation. Nonetheless, it is a place definitely worth considering when visiting Manchester.
