Flyctory.com Songs Of The Week (week of 31st October 2025)

31st October, Happy Halloween! Especially on the North American music market, Trick or Treat creates a rather low volume new music. Maybe that’s one of the key factors why there are a lot of songs in German and from Germany in my release radar this week. The leading song this time is by a great artist from my home town.

Björn Heuser – Purzelbäum

Cologne is preparing for the carnival season, which is kicking off on 11th November at 11:11. One of the finest singer-songwriters of the city is Björn Heuser, who became famous for his sing along shows. However, his solo songs are fantastic as well. I loved his 2019 Nashville album Kopp voll Dräum and enjoyed the unique car concert in Bonn in 2020 under Covid-19 conditions. A picture I took from that show finally made it on the over of his 25 Jahre anniversary box set. Next year, there will be a new album – this song (in Cologne German, so don’t blame yourself if you don’t get all lyrics…) is already a beauty.

Gringo Mayer – Ganove

Gringo Mayer is another German artist singing in regional dialect. The artist from Ludwigshafen, who is now based in Mannheim – just across the River Rhine – is singing in Kurpfälzisch, the local slang spoken in the Electoral Palatinate region in Southwest Germany. Ganove (“Crook”) is a great song with pop, folk and rock elements.

Cat Ballou – Eau de Cologne

Let’s go back to my home town Cologne for another song. Cat Ballou are one of the key party bands in town. Their new pop track praises the Eau de Cologne (read my post about it – it is the most popular on Flyctory.com!). I already reviewed a Cat Ballou album once (Alles Bunt, 2021). Their song Et jitt kei Wood is one of my Ten Favorite Songs about Cologne.

Devado – Please Stay

Devado is a German artist from Munich. This week she released the pop track Please Stay. It s her first appearance in my Songs of the Week. A really nice dance track.

Ross Antony – Merry Christmas Hallelujah

Ross Antony was born in Bridgnorth in England, but is nowadays based in Germany and dual citizen. As he is living in Siegburg, right next to the city I grew up in, you here and there run into the artist, who is today rather known for German schlager tracks. This one is a Christmas pop song, though. I really like him – and this track.

Mike Krüger – Touri4You

It is very hard to put the music of German singer-songwriter and comedian into a specific genre. This track rather comes with beach vibes, but he also released pop- and country-alike songs. What most of his track have in common, though, is that they are very humorous and social critic. In this song, he is criticizing travel influencers. It is absolutely hilarious.

Alexandra Hofmann – Hinter den Sternen

Alexandra Hofmann, who used to perform with her sister Anita in the past, is a German schlager artist from Southern Germany. This time, she is taking us Hinter den Sternen (“Behind the Stars”). A beautiful and touching ballad.

Martina – Erste Wahl

Martina is a schlager artist from Southern Germany. She is deep in my heart since we had a Spotlight interview together in April 2023. Her new song is a nice schlager-pop track. I was surprised that she sang quite much in standard German this time – typically she uses Bavarian dialect.

Michelle – Lügen

Michelle is a big name in the schlager scene. She recently announced her farewell tour. The former Eurovision Song Contest artist presents a nice modern schlager track with an ironic touch in the lyrics.

Electric Callboy – Tanzneid

In November 2025, Electric Callboy will be touring in German-speaking countries. They are a metalcore band from Castrop-Rauxel in the German Ruhrgebiet. This year, they celebrate their 15th anniversary – their original band name was Eskimo Callboy until 2022.

Three For Silver – Proof

Proof by Three For Silver is one of these “It is somehow strange, but I love it” songs to me. The band is lead by Lucas Warford from Washington State / USA. Their sound is a unique mix of folk, rock, and East European influences. Finally, the dark Proof is absolutely catching.

Saint City Orchestra – Louder Than Regret

I guess I don’t need to introduce the Saint City Orchestra to you any more. Any time the rock band from St. Gallen in Switzerland are releasing a new song, they are a hot candidate for a Songs of the Week nomination. Like this week. Louder Than Regret has a lovely touch of Irish folk.

KI Sunshine Band – Wir fliegen hoch

KI Sunshine Band is a project by Thomas Ostler from Dorfen East of Munich. As the title suggests (KI = “Künstliche Intelligenz” means Artificial Intelligence), he writes the lyrics by himself, but then uses AI to form a song. The result is an impressing rock track.

Drea – Creeps

Drea is an emerging artist from Norway. In 2024, the Bergen artist released her debut EP Letters to my bitter selfCreeps will be part of her upcoming EP Sucker for Love and Heartaches, which is scheduled to be released in 2026.

Engelherz – Lieber Vater

Lieber Vater, a praise and farewell song to Engelherz’s father, touched me deeply. The artist behind this name is Manfred Oswald, an Austrian artist, who is originally from Styria, but nowadays lives in Switzerland.

Helge Lien Trio – Little Radio Song

With last song, I am heading back to Norway. The Helge Lien Trio is a jazz trio, which is lead by Helge Lien from Hamar. I loved this instrumental track which is coming with a lovely atmosphere – and felt like a lovely closing one of this post to me.
