While most of the major music releases take place on Fridays, this one is in fact a Wednesday one. Boyfriend Of The Year is the sophomore EP by the pop artist Jamila. She released it on 2nd April 2025.

Jamila – About The Artist

Jamilia is a pop musician with Swiss and Palestinian roots. She started to release music in 2023, when she also published her debut EP Fadeout. She grew her status in the Swiss music scene since then and also had some remarkable gigs in the meantime. Nonetheless, Boyfriend Of The Year is her second major release.

The four track EP lasts 14 minutes.

1. Silver Lining

Silver Lining is a very promising opener. The pop track with a slight indie touch comes with a very present beat. The high voice by Jamila thereby nicely takes you into the story of the song. I really like this one.

2. Delusional

Unfortunately, the EP just comes with four tracks. In fact, Delusional is the only song, which has not been released before this release. Compared to the opener, the song is a bit slower. The sound is very modern. It is a cool pop track to hang out and enjoy, but also allows a deeper listen.

3. Linger

Linger has been released on Valentine’s Day 2025. The song starts rather slow, before the rhythm kicks in. Overall, this song is full of mental heartache. To me, this track comes with the most interesting and catching plot of the whole EP.

4. Antidote

Boyfriend Of The Year closes with Antidote. The 14th March 2025 single release has been the last one before the EP release. The song is energetic and a bit of angry, nicely connecting to the heartache topic of Linger. I really like this one as well.

Jamila is a very interesting artist. Bad luck that the rather short EP just features one new song. Boyfriend of the Year feels very promising and comes with some very straight and good storytelling. Nonetheless, it also allows you to enjoy the rhythm of this song.
