Rock Meets Country 2025 (Day 2, 27th September 2025)

After having the Legends of Rock on Friday, Rock Meets Country continued on Saturday under the slogan Shake It Up. Here is my concert report of Saturday in Sempach.

This posting comes with 692 major size pictures as part of the concert gallery.

Rock Meets Country 2025, Day 2 – About The Artists

Shake It Up leaned towards pop-ish and majroly rockabilly acts. I first mixed up Gizzelle, the penultimate act of the day, with a very successful Italian pop artist. In fact, it is a US American rockabilly artist from Los Angeles. The closing act of the day was soul-rock artist Les Greene. With doors opening at 14:00, the first band, Jerry & The Sailors, was on stage at 14:45.

Main Stage Lineup (without dance acts)
14:45 Jerry & The Sailors Local rockabilly band from Sursee
15:35 Tonado Beat Dutch rock and rockabilly band
17:00 Smokestack Lightnin’ German band from Nuremberg, combining country, rockabilly and soul elements
18:35 Di Maggio Connection Florence-origin band influenced by rockabilly, neosurf rock and Americana elements
19:05 Roy Dee & the Spitfires Portuguese rockabilly band
20:15 Sonny West & The Rhythm Kings British rockabilly band
21:55 Gizzelle US-American rockabilly lady
23:35 Les Greene US-American rock, soul and funk musician

Rock Meets Country 2025, Day 2 – The Shows

The timetable was slightly shifted, in contrast to the original announcement. However, the organizers kept their plans quite well thereafter. The first act of the day were Johnny & the Sailors, who had a very solid opening set. However, the first session of the festival was rather poorly visited, which was a shame for the locals. Saturday featured a lot of rockabilly, which lead to little variety. The Dutch band Tornado Beat has been a real highlight of the day to me, playing a very powerful set.

I also liked the only German act of the weekend, Smokestack Lightnin’. The level of music was very high on that day, so that the people danced with the band and their charismatic leader. The third act of the day, Di Maggio Connection from Italy, could keep up that spirit.

The individual sets of the bands were rather short at that time. Another really nice act was Roy Dee & the Spitfires. After them, there was the dance performance of The Rockin’ Dancing Cats – you find a few impressions of them in my atmosphere post. Finally, I decided to leave after Sonny West & The Rhythm Kings. The British band interacted with the fans very well, Sunny was even going into the audience and partied with Sempach. Rockabilly does have a very clear fan base and the people enjoyed it. However, there was also not that much of a variety in the sound. Furthermore, I already had quite an open backlog of unprocessed pictures, so that I rather wanted to invest into that and be able to cover the third day entirely.

Lakeside Stage

The open entry Lakeside Stage suffered the fact that Dollar Bill did not enter the stage. Thus, there were just two acts. Like on Friday, Johnny Trouble warmed up the Swiss crowds. In the evening session, Jerry & the Sailors had their second appearance of the day.
