I am on a short trip to Dubai this weekend. Good to have some sun and warmth in the cold European winter – always appreciate that. There were a little less new songs than in the weeks before. Therefore, there are some really, really good ones. Hope you enjoy my last Songs of the Week episode as of January 2026.
Bruce Springsteen – Streets of Minneapolis
Many people in and outside the USA are worried about what is going on in the there, especially in Minneapolis. Bruce Springsteen is one of them. And he does what he can do best. Sending a strong message in a song. This one simply had to lead my weekly new song selection.
Picture This x Michael Schulte – Giants
The Irish alternative pop band Picture This and the German former Eurovision Song Contest artist Michael Schulte have both been featured quite a couple of times on Flyctory.com. Now, they are joining forces and recorded the amazing pop track Giants. A really good one!
Fury In The Slaughterhouse – 9 Lives
In May 2026, Fury In The Slaughterhouse kick off their Changes Open Air Tour through Germany. They are one of the finest rock bands in my home country. I guess this song will be included in their setlist. A typical Fury track, so good!
Kayla Krystin – I brenn
Pop-ish stanzas, a rocking chorus – I really love the new release by the Austrian artist Kayla Krystin. The song comes with straight lyrics and a lot of energy. The song is her candidate for the preliminary round for the Austrian Eurovision Song Contest song. I will cross my fingers from Germany, definitely.
Papa Roach – Wake Up Calling
There are a couple of big names of the music industry in my this week’s post. Papa Roach is – obviously – one of them. They will kick off their world tour in Malaysia in late March 2026 and tour Europe in summer.
Madsen – Smile
A new song, a new album: Smile is not only a new song release by Madsen, it will also be the title track of their upcoming tenth album. Another catching track by the German rock band from the Wendland region.
Carli – Pinocchio
Pinocchio is just the third single release by the German artist Carli. The first two ones worked out fairly well – and I really like this new modern pop track.
Brockhoff – Willows
Lina Brockhoff wrote this alternative folk track during the Covid-19 pandemic. The song will also be part of her debut album, which is going to be released in early June 2026. Great track by the German artist, who is living in Hamburg.
Dominik Klein – Wir sind jetzt
The story behind Wir sind jetzt is a very interesting one. The song is the official title track of a series released by Antonia Wesseling. They are currently touring through bookstores, reading from the book and playing this catching song.
Florian Künstler – Wehe Du gibst auf
It is hard not to list this guy when he is releasing a new track. Florian Künstler is simply one of Germany’s finest songwriters to me. This week, he released Wehe Du gibst auf – and makes it to my release radar again.
Lyza – Tot
Lyza is a German artist. Her family has Montegrian roots. This year, she is working on her debut EP. There is no title or release date, but the very personal and intense Tot is a catching teaser for that. Good luck!
Malou Lovis – When I’m With You
In March 2025, Malou Lovis released her debut album Things I Wrote Down Last Night. With her new song When I’m With You, the 2023 The Voice of Germany winner wants to take the next step. She is one of the contestants for Germany’s Eurovision Song Contest qualification. A nice pop song with soul vibes and a queer message.
Melanie Martinez – Possession
Two days after release, the YouTube audio of Possession already had one million views. There is no tracking on Spotify, though (which typically means it is very immaterial). What is right and wrong here? Draw your own conclusion – and enjoy listening to the new song by the US-American singer-songwriter
December 10 – Run My Way
December 10 is a new British boy band formed in London in 2025. The mastermind behind setting up this septet is Simon Cowell, who illustrated this process in the Netflix series The Next Act. Run My Way is their first official single. They did release a song for a music video already though. Fun fact: the name might change in the future – there is a Scottish metal band named December Tenth, who are not that happy about the new band’s name…
