Flyctory.com Pros

  • Absolutely funny listen
  • Modern everyday stories told with nostalgic melodies
  • Nice harmony between the musicians

According to the duo’s Bandcamp site, their music is coming straight from their HQ – a cozy kitchen in Berlin-Kreuzberg. With Ready to go anywhere, they are releasing their sophomore album on 17th October 2025. I found the album on a promotion platform and just had to have a deeper listen. Here is my review.

Grateful Cat – About The Artists

Grateful Cat is an indie-folkpop duo from Berlin. The duo consisting of Gwendolin Tägert and Franky Fuzz is not a couple, but released their first song in 2023. In the same year, they also shared their debut albumStray With Me. Besides their musical career, they are working as a nurturer and in an museum.

Grateful Cat – Ready to go anywhere – Track by Track

The twelve track album lasts 36 minutes. There is also a version which includes all songs as instrumental versions

1. When our world disappears

Already the opener of the album sets the direction about its sound. When our world disappears comes with a lovely folk singer-songwriter style. The melodies feel nostalgic and remind me of bands like the Byrds. The lyrics deal with very modern and nowadays’ problems though. Having both vocals in here and a limited, but sufficient instrumentation leads to a very personal touch.

2. Hey, Food Delivery Guy

The second song is one three tracks which have been released before the album. The song makes me smile. Hey, food delivery guy, don’t run me over – Grateful Cat have their very own way of looking into modern life and society.

3. Another Team Bride

Another Team Bridge is coming our way – that’s the first impression the Berlin duo share from this song telling a story they explored in Liverpool. The sound has a slight surf-pop vibe. Ain’t the story very relatable? There are sometimes simply too many bachelor and bachelorette tours in major cities in parallel.

4. Jesus on her Toast

With very happy and easy vibes, Grateful Cat share their fourth song, Jesus on her Toast. You simply have to smile when the Berlin duo is describing the story of the track. I like it!

5. Summer’s gone, it’s over

When Grateful Cat states that Summer’s gone, it’s over, there are still some warm vibes in the song. This is one of the tracks in which Franky Fuzz (the male part) is rather taking over the vocal lead. The changes in that role additionally turn the album into a entertaining and versatile listen.

6. Don’t spread the Hate

Don’t spread the Hate is a clear message. The song has a very intense surf and beach sound. I really like the catching melody line of the track. A nice and entertaining listen with a big touch of nostalgy.

7. Bartender at a Comedy Club

There are slight old-school country vibes in this song. Frank states I am a bartender in a comedy club. However, later he adds It’s not so funny working at a comedy club. I don’t tell you how this one is ending up – but the song again left me with a smile.

8. Slow moving Crowds

I’m stuck again, I’m stuck in slow moving crowds. You just cannot deny that Grateful Cat don’t go for everyday situations we all can relate to. Gwendolin and Frank describe the struggle and frustration in their very characteristic, hilarious way. And turn it into an enjoyable listen.

9. Columbo

I wanna be part of your investigations – in this song, the duo is praising TV Investigator Columbo. Their somehow naive way of telling stories lead to such a personal and direct style, you simply have to listen to the Germans.

10. Full Moon Baby

The speedy Full Moon Boby adds some slight rock’n’roll vibes to Ready to go anywhere. The guitar riffs are a bit more present and harder in here. Together with the speedy performance, this is a nice fit to the album.

11. I’m not coming in on a Sunday

The traditional folk-pop style of Grateful Cat’s songs suits perfectly to songs like this one. A nice way to decline a potential meeting or date.

12. Under the Cat

The album closes with Under the Cat. It describes how a cat is sitting on your lap and you just cannot do anything. I’m caught in a trap ’cause a cat is sitting on my lap. The song takes a very funny and hilarious twist.

Grateful Cat – Ready to go anywhere – Spotify

I will add the Spotify widget once the album has been published.

Grateful Cat – Ready to go anywhere – My View

Ready to go anywhere is simply a fun and entertaining album. The way Grateful Cat is looking at everyday, modern situations, paired with rather nostalgic melodies, is simply hilarious. In their simple and easy style, the duo even creates a certain depth. I absolutely enjoyed that listen.

Favorite Song: Another Team Bride
