I am still in the process of recovering. Nonetheless, I expect a slow transition to my normal posting rhythm, with two posts per day from Monday to Thursday. One rationale for that is that I am in Finland this weekend, covering quite a lot of floorball matches. On the music side, I could start having some album reviews this week as well. Here are my favorite new song releases as of Friday, 21st November 2025. Quite a lot of Christmas songs in here this time
Unheilig – Mein Löwe
Unheilig is likely the comeback of the year in the German music scene. Not only that the dark pop–rock band from Aachen is back on tour since this week, they also release new music. They also announced new shows in summer 2026 and in fall/winter 2026/27 as well as a new album, Liebe Glaube Monster, which will be released on 13th March 2026. This week, they released Mein Löwe (“My Lion”), a beautifully poetic song. I absolutely love it.
Chris Brandon – Loving Arms
Chris Brandon is a blind country-pop artist from Mannheim in Germany. He is also working as a TV host. On this Friday, which is the 90th birthday of Elvis Presley, he released Loving Arms as a tribute track to The King. The song was originally performed by Kris Kristofferson and Rita Coolidge in 1973 and then interpreted by Elvis one year later. A lovely one!
Felinio – Patrick Swayze
Felinio is an indie-pop artist from Munich. This week, he released the song Patrick Swayze as a single, in parallel to the EP Highscore. The song is also the opener of the four track release. A really nice and interesting listen.
Tormodur – Enn eitt tak
Unfortunately, I don’t have too much information about this party track from the Faroe Islands. Tormudur Petursson Djurhuus from Torshavn is a former handball national team player, who feels to have recorded a track for the upcoming Women Handball World Championship in Germany and the Netherlands. Next week, I will support the Faroese team in Trier – I thus guess that I will listen to Enn eitt tak (depending on the translation, “One more time” or “One more shot”) quite some time.
Richie Necker – The Faith in Love (Don’t Be Afraid)
In June 2021, I introduced you to Richie Necker, when he released his album New Songs and Untold Stories. The album received a good rating, but has been his last solo album so far. Let’s keep the fingers crossed that this is changing some time in 2026.
Aurel – Weihnachtszeit
Time for some Christmas vibes. Aurel is an artist from Hamburg, who is doing a typical, rather gentle holiday track here. Just what you think about first when you think about “Christmas Time”.
Myller – Am Weihnachtstag
In September 2025, the German artist Myller released the EP Nur mit mir (“Just with me”). Now, he shared his first Christmas single ever, Am Weihnachtstag. Hs musical trip to “On Christmas Day” is his first Christmas song release. Nice one!
Leony & Giovanni Zarrella – Home To Me
Even though I really love German artist Leony, I did struggle with her recent releases. The more, I am happy that I really love her new song. Home To Me is a recording with Giovanni Zarrella, who I featured at his August 2024 show in Cologne. Fun fact: Giovanni recently was on the same Air France Hop! flight with me from Paris (CDG) to Dusseldorf (DUS). A friendly, down to Earth guy, who became that big in the German entertainment scene. A really good release!
Bunch of Ace – Tanz im Wasser
Bunch of Ace released their second song in German this week. I am quite amazed about Tanz im Wasser (“Dance in the Water”). The song is full of pop and funk vibes. The teenage twins are very versatile and fascinating.
Melissa Naschenweng – Wo Du Herkommst
The Austrian queen of schlager-pop has released Wo Du Herkommst this week. A song about home, self-confidence, which is simply a lovely listen.
Mynd Palace – Fool Me
Another act from Munich on my this week’s release list is Mynd Place. The have been formed in 2018. So far, there have only been scattered single releases. Bad luck – this one sounds like it is demanding for more.
Shinedown – Searchlight
Time for some rock tunes. Searchlight is the new song by the US American band Shinedown. The quartet around singer Brent Smitch is having their 25th band anniversary. If you feel some country vibes – they even have played the Grand Ole Opry already.
Melonball – Silence = Compliance
Melonball is a punk rock band from Nuremberg. They already look forward to the end of February, when they will share their new album Take Care. Their this week’s release Silence = Compliance already feels promising.
Airbourne – Christmas Bonus
After so many Christmas songs in this edition of my Songs of the Week, I just have to close with one as well. However, Christmas Bonus by the Australian hard rock and metal band Airbourne is definitely rather on the alternative Christmas side. Nonetheless, it is a treat for fans of harder guitar riffs.
