Watching a musical show with a performer I know brought me to Bielefeld in September 2024. Due to my Accor status and the perfect location of the hotel for that reason, I opted for the ibis Styles in the city. Here is my review of the hotel.
ibis Styles Bielefeld – Location
The hotel is located very centrally, close to the Town Hall and the City Theater, where the musical took place. There are also quite some dining options and you reach the shopping district easily. Bielefeld is not too bad, but also not really gifted with city center attractions, so I absolutely enjoyed just having a some five minute commute from my room door to the theater.
Due to a tram/underground station right in front of the hotel, the public transport situation is rather ideal. Even in non-peak times, the hotel, located at Rathaus stop, has frequent connections to Bielefeld Main Station, which is two stops away. If you arrive by car, the hotel is also running a parking garage (for a fee).
ibis Styles Bielefeld – Room
I had one night at the ibis Styles Bielefeld. The flexible rate (one day cancellation) from Friday to Saturday in September 2024 for a superior room was 125.30 EUR. I got a room on the fifth (and thus: top) floor. The room was definitely larger than I expected and came with a rather nice design. There could have been more than one power outlet at the work desk, which at least featured additional USB plugs. I definitely liked the large cupboard next to the entrance, which provided a lot of space for luggage and other items. The room even featured a kitchinette with a microwave, a fridge and a sink. However, there was not even a plate or a cup around. At check-out, the receptionist informed me that you can get those on demand – an information I would have loved to know earlier.
The shower bathroom had a good size and more than sufficient storage. The typical basic amenities are provided in dispensers. There was also sufficient supply of towels. The ibis Styles typically does housekeeping on demand for longer stays, my room was absolutely fine maintained.
ibis Styles Bielefeld – Breakfast
Breakfast at the ibis Styles is served in a designated room one floor above the reception desk. It’s an ibis brand – and based on that, the selection of food offered was absolutely fine. The selection of warm items (just scrambled and boiled eggs as well as beans) was rather sparse and there could have been more bakery items. On the other hand, they had a quite a bunch of healthy options, cereal and fruit, which I absolutely appreciated. The staff was not really open-minded, though. He did his tasks accurately, but did not go over that – and preferred to play around with his cell phone.
ibis Styles Bielefeld – Service
Check-in at the ibis Styles Bielefeld went smoothly. As said before, some information about kitchen items on demand would have been very helpful, though. Close to the reception is a bar and a small shop, where you can buy basic snacks and a nice variety of drinks. There is free and upgraded WiFi in the hotel. The free WiFi got its job done very well already, though.
ibis Styles Bielefeld – My View
Overall, I really liked my stay at the ibis Styles Bielefeld. The location was ideal for my purpose. Apart from minor service issues, the hotel did an absolutely good job. Thus, I had an absolutely pleasing experience.
