  • Lovely design
  • Great food quality
  • Nice staff

Flyctory.com Cons

  • Unusual concept

The name Centurion Lounge is just located in comparably small letters at the side of the staircase – the credit card company’s lounge at Stockholm Arlanda Airport (ARN) comes with a much straighter name. The American Express Lounge by Pontus Frithiof – the latter is driven multiple restaurants in the region – is one of the most exclusive ways to spend time before your flight in the Swedish capital. I had a visit in April 2025 and take you into this place.

American Express Lounge Stockholm – Location & Access

The American Express Lounge Stockholm is located in Terminal 5. It is not too far away from the duty-free shop you more or less inevitably visit after security check. If you head towards the gate areas C, D, E, the lounge is upstairs on the left hand side. Of course, there is also an elevator available. Please note that if you enter Terminal 5 at the C-Gates (former Terminal 4) directly, the lounge is a some 15 minute walk away. Vice versa, walking distances in the restructured Terminal 5 to the gate might be a bit of demanding – keep that in mind when you plan your visit.

The lounge opens daily from 5:00 to 19:30. The lounge access is as simply as demanding: you need to have an American Express Platinum or Centurion Card as well as a departing flight ticket. There are theoretically a few other options, like certain US credit cards if you are on a Delta flight – but they will in practice likely not apply for this place.

American Express Lounge Stockholm – Atmosphere

The setting in the lounge feels beautiful and luxurious. There are several different seating options. However, most of them are in an upper-class restaurant or bistro style. The work desk area also features quite some power sockets – overall, these could be a bit more of them. In fact you literally look over the gate area and the large windows on the opposite side grant you a nice view of the aviation action. The most striking element is likely the centrally located bar. The lounge is also beautifully branded, so that it overall leaves a memorable impression.

American Express Lounge Stockholm – Food & Drink

I had breakfast at the American Express Lounge in Stockholm. There felt to be some egg dishes ready for order, but I simply did not get how that is working out. Drinks were made to order and brought to your table. During daytime, the lounge is rather having a menu service, while the breakfast service is more like a small, but very fancy buffet. Some add-ons like champagne or gin and tonic are available. They do, however, require an additional payment (which is reasonable, based on typical Scandinavian alcohol prices).

American Express Lounge Stockholm – Services

The bathroom is a bit hidden in the corner of the lounge. Typically Scandinavian, the toilets are unisex. The style is quite in line with the whole lounge. WiFi worked really fine during my visit. Apart from the struggle of getting into the services of the lounge, I really liked the attentive service of the staff.

American Express Lounge Stockholm – My View

Having breakfast at this lounge is maybe not the most characteristic service the American Express Lounge by Pontus Frithiof. Other reviewers who had lunch there, describe the lounge rather as a restaurant than a typical lounge, which I can reconcile from my experience. I was surprised that the lounge was comparably full on a Sunday morning. The service was really nice, the design of the lounge as well as the staff stayed in my mind in a positive way. Due to the unusual concept, also compared to other American Express Lounges, a more intense introduction to the lounge service would have helped me, though.
