For a business trip to Paris in September 2024, I chose a hotel in La Defense. The Hilton options around the office were just too pricey, so that I went for the (rather) less expansive Hilton Paris La Defense. Here is my review of the stay.

 

The expenses for this trip have been reimbursed by my employee at that time. This did not influence my hotel review.

 

Hilton Paris La Defense – Location

La Defense is a commercial and business district in Greater Paris. In fact, the hotel is located in the city of Puteaux, there is a smooth transition from the city of Paris, though. Hilton La Defense is in the Northern of two Westfield shopping malls, Westfield CNIT. Thus, you have a vast range of shopping and dining opportunities around. However, the stores typically close at 20:00, wich may be a bit of early for some touristic reasons. Thereafter, the hotel is rather empty. The Grande Arche is located right next to the Hilton hotel.

Despite the location of the hotel might feel a bit of remote, it is actually really well connected. The station La Defense connects to RER lines A, E, L and U. Additionally, it is the terminal stop / first stop of Metro line 1, which was very convenient during my stay – you more or less have a guaranteed seat, even though the connection might be slightly slower. There are also some bus connections from there. I would not absolutely recommend using a car to the Hilton Paris La Defense.

 

Hilton Paris La Defense – Room

I had a two night stay in Paris at the Hilton Group hotel. The total amount for a two night stay, including city tax, was 629.30 EUR. I had originally booked another room category, but the bot running in our company’s booking system re-assigned me to an accessible room, which decreased the price by some 10 EUR total and killed any upgrade as a Hilton Diamond member. Breakfast was free due to my status. The room was actually quite nice. Especially the size is much more than what you get in Central Paris hotels. I was missing a work desk – but I guess that was rather due to the accessible layout of the room. There were also power outlets underneath the TV set, which suggest some sort of facility being typically locted there. The table next to the bed did its job done to have some work checked off, though.

The accessible layout also reflects in a rather large, flat bathroom. Nonetheless, there was sufficient space around the sink for my toiletries. The shower was rather large sized for obvious reasons. Overall, the hotel room was very nice – even though I would have loved to see some of their more fancy non-accessible rooms. It is also fun to see out through the windows to other parts of the Westfield. However, this also means that there is a bit decreased privacy in the hotel, if you don’t close the blinds.

 

Hilton Paris La Defense – Breakfast

Breakfast is served in the restaurant right at reception level. Paris breakfasts just cannot compete with the kick-off nutrition in other locations – and the Hilton La Defense was in line with that. There was still a really nice selection. A bit of a downside was that the live cooking egg station does open later than the breakfast buffet itself. As I had to be in the office comparably early, I could not take any try of this service.

 

Hilton Paris La Defense – Service

The staff in the hotel was very friendly. The level of English was absolutely good and I had no issues in that regard. Hilton Paris La Defense provides a rather nice gym on the fifth floor. In order to work and maintain my website, I was very thankful for the reliable WiFi connection. There is no Executive Lounge in this hotel.

 

Hilton Paris La Defense – My View

I really liked the Hilton La Defense. Especially due to the close (and, daytime, covered) connection to public transport, it is overall a really nice option for a stay in Paris. The service provided is also very nice. My stay hit the Paris Fashion Week, but typically, it is also a comparably affordable option in the French capital. Thus, I would definitely recommend the stay.
