Hall of Fame Open 2024 - Singles Qualification Day 1

On 14th July 2024, I finally reached the holy grounds of the International Tennis Hall of Fame. The Infosys Hall of Fame Open 2024 had scheduled their first round of singles qualification. Apart from my focus match of the day, Ganesan (USA) vs. Polmans (AUS), I felt to just take some snaps of a couple of matches, getting used to the facilities and venue. Hope you like my insights from Newport, Rhode Island.

Infosys Hall of Fame Open – Singles Qualification Day 1

I picked some random matches of the day and share snaps with you:

Gijs Brouwer (NED) – Jacob Fearnley (GBR) 6-4 3-6 2-6

The first day in Newport on Court 1 started with the only all-European match of the day, with Dutch Gijs Brouwer facing Jacob Fearnley from Great Britain. Finally, this has been the closest match of te day. After Brouwer won the first set and felt to have a good touch in the match, Fearnley fought back and had the only three-set win of the day.

Charles Broom (GBR) – Li Tu (AUS) 1-6 5-7

Australian Li Tu cruised through the first set, leading to an easy 6-1 first set victory. However, his British opponent Charles Broom fought back and the second set was much closer. Nonetheless, Broom had to bow out of the Newport qualification after two sets.

Billy Harris (GBR) – Bernard Tomic (AUS) 6-3 6-4

In another British-Australian battle, top-seeded Billy Harris and the heat gave Bernard Tomic too much struggle. Especially the serve of the British gave the Stuttgart-born Australian too many challenges.
