Flyctory.com Pros

  • Right next to the main station, inside a mall
  • Beautiful room
  • Very nice breakfast

One of the ten concerts I visited of the Weird Al Yankovic European Tour 2023 was at the TivoliVredenburg in Utrecht, Netherlands. The venue frequently pops up as a place for concerts of all kinds, so that I was really curious to have a look inside. Furthermore, it has been quite long ago since I have been in the city for the first time. A hotel, which is just a few steps away from the main train station and the venue felt like a fantastic option. Together with my general preference for Hilton Group hotels, the Hampton by Hilton Utrecht Station was an easy choice for this occasion. Here are my thoughts about it.

Hampton Utrecht Central Station – Location

I already told you that the Hampton by Hilton Utrecht Central Station is a rail station hotel and is also located next to TivoliVredenburg. However, it is also right inside of Hoog Catharijne, a shopping mall just next to the station. Thus, you find all kinds of services around the hotel, including supermarkets. Access to Central Utrecht is very convenient as well. From my room, it was some five minutes to the gates of the train station and three ones to the entrance of the venue. On ground floor, there is another hotel, the Crowne Plaza Utrecht – Central Station.

This place more or less urges you to access it by public transport. However, due to the shopping mall and the other facilities, you will also find a parking spot close to the hotel. However, if you don’t reserve a spot in advance, you may end up with a daily parking fee of some 25 Euro.

Hampton Utrecht Central Station – Room

I had a one night stay at the Hampton Utrecht Station. the semi-flex (i.e. five day cancellation rate) for a Queen Room was 120.84 EUR. Hampton stays generally include breakfast. I had a nice upgrade to a corner room, which I especially loved due to the direct, unobstructed view to the concert venue. Overall, the room felt very spacious. As I was travelling with my photo gear at that time, I really appreciated it.

The room felt very welcoming, even though the long hallway felt weird at first sight (but was due to the location of the room, of course). The work desk reminded me of the foldable work desks you typically have in Moxy Hotels like the Moxy Cologne Bonn Airport. Not really my favorite size and design. There was also no light on the work area, which has been bothering.

The bathroom was really nice and surprisingly spacious. Hampton provides amenities in dispensers, which is nice. There was quite some storage space. The whole space, living area and bathroom, very well maintained by housekeeping.

Hampton Utrecht Central Station – Breakfast

The breakfast area was rather large, but there were also quite a couple of people around in the morning. I liked the area with a variety of seating setups quite a lot. The buffet as such was also nicely presented and had a nice variety of items. Especially on the warm dishes’ side, the Hampton rather exceeded my expectations.

Hampton Utrecht Central Station – Service

As you might have spotted in the pictures above, you have to take the elevators two floors up from upper mall level to reach the reception desk. This is also the area where breakfast is served. The hotel also has a gym in here. Unfortunately, I just had a look while other guests were practicing, so that I could not take any snaps. Check-in and check-out worked very well, the complimentary WiFi was very reliable as well.

Hampton Utrecht Central Station – My View

The location of the Hampton Utrecht Central Station was outstanding for my purpose (and is great in general). The hotel also did not fail in other key disciplines. It is a really nice stay. If one day I am not curious about the Crowne Plaza, I will definitely come back here for other concerts and visits – due to the proximity to the station, it is even cool for trips to Amsterdam. Top Pick! – of course….
