Flyctory.com Cons

  • No food offering

As a change of train at German national rail Deutsche Bahn in early November 2026 allowed me a detour, I took the opportunity for an early Sunday morning visit of one of their lounges. I have been to the DB Lounge in Nürnberg (Nuremberg) a few times, but never made it for a review – so that visit felt like being a nice opportunity. Here are my thoughts.

DB Lounge Nuremberg – Location & Admission

DB Lounge Nuremberg is located in the upper West wing of Nuremberg Main Station. Escalators take you up there. The area also features public toilets and a fast food restaurant. The directions are given throughout the station.

The lounge is opening daily. From Monday to Friday, times are 6:30 to 21:00. On Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays, you can visit the lounge between 8:00 and 20:00. Access to the lounge is possible via a flexible First Class ticket, or corresponding status (Gold or Platinum) at their frequent traveler program BahnBonus. BahnBonus Silver members may use one of the daily passes they receive. The lounge does not offer a Premium area for flexible First Class ticket holders. Additionally, Deutsche Bahn accepts some of the status members and network ticket holders of their European alliance rail providers.

DB Lounge Nuremberg – Atmosphere

The Nuremberg DB Lounge has been a pilot for the updated concept for German rail lounges. The original lounge had been rather small, but nowadays, it is a rather spacious place with different areas. After passing the reception, there is a restaurant/bistro style seating. In one conrer of the lounge, there are higher tables rather made for working in the lounge, while another features the high and cozy relax chairs. I really liked that the DB Lounge in Nuremberg also features another small place next to the window, which also comes with the newspapers and magazines. This feels a bit like a small library.

DB Lounge Nuremberg – Food & Drink

As Nuremberg features no premium lounge, there are only hot and cold drinks (non-alcoholic). You can help yourself from the dispensers. The area felt well maintained – which is likely not too surprising on a Sunday morning visit, when the attendance is low.

DB Lounge Nuremberg – Service

The reception desk staff was very friendly and also very attentive. There is free WiFi in DB Lounges, which works very well. Right across the entrance desk, there are toilets, which felt rather spacious.

DB Lounge Nuremberg – My View

The DB Lounge at Nuremberg Main Station is a really nice place. It cannot compare to places like the Brightline Lounge in Miami, but is a good spot to hang out before a train ride or to get some work done. I really liked it.
