There have already been seven match days, until I finally made it to the German Floorball Bundesliga season 2025/26. On 25th October 2025, the SSF Dragons Bonn hosted SC DHfK Leipzig. The guests are a really interesting team, being promoted to the Bundesliga that season. The hosts had a good start into the season, being placed third in the current table. I was really looking forward to the match a Sportpark Nord.

SSF Dragons Bonn – SC DHfK Leipzig – Match Report
The match started excitingly, First, Bonn hit the crossbar, then Jussi Hakala, had the first big chance for the guests. However, the match slowed down significantly soon. A key factor was that once was in ball possession, they held it very long, waiting for the right time for passes into the offensive zone. The guests felt more straight in their attacks, even though these lead to turnovers. Hakala scored the first goal of the match in the 13th minute, after Lucas Frommhold played a nice pass from central position to the left wing. The goal did make the match a bit more agile and there were a few heartbeat moments – but overall, time was ticking down until the first intermission.

Bonn struggling at Home
Leipzig were the first ones on the match report in the second period. However, Melvin Pulow, who shot away the ball after a clear hit, likely would have rather avoided the bench penalty after five minutes. The Dragons took opportunity in power play with a Tomas Nyström sniping from a central position. The match stayed predominantly strategic, with Leipzig feeling better prepared for that kind of battle. In the 33rd minute, they were awarded for this with their second goal. Tuomas Hirn ran along the boards on the right wing, reaching the back of Mats Wendtland’s goal. His smart pass into the slot reached Lucas Frommhold, who put the ball close to the near post.

Bonn did not feel to increase pressure on the guests after trailing again – and thus, the momentum felt to stay with DHfK Leipzig. With 24 seconds left to play in the second period, the guests raised the lead to two goals. After a free hit on the offensive face-off spot, Bonn’s defense did not care sufficiently about Hirn, who scored with a wrap-around move.
Florian Weißkirchen gives Hope to the Dragons
However, Bonn does have that one player, who made the difference in so many matches in the past. Florian Weißkirchen (who again leads the scorer’s table of the Bundesliga) was part of any of the SSF Bonn goals that evening. At the beginning of the third period, he gave back hope to the 136 spectators of his home arena. In the 45th minute, he basically broke through the whole central Leipzig defense and closed up the score. Just three minutes later, he scored from the right wing again and thus tied the score, 3-3. However, Leipzig simply felt better in reacting to the opponent’s game this evening. After 50 minutes, Elias Rensing lost the ball to Ferdinand Ondruschka, who scored from the distance in central position and gave back his team the lead.

Bonn now lost a bit of discipline and were severely punished for that. First, the hosts very very lucky that Justin Obojiagbe was not sent to the sin bin after an ugly trip against Lorenz. Right before Leipzig’s fifth goal in the 53rd minute, there was another hard hit against the Leipzig player, but his teammates played one, completing the attack with a left wing snipe by Juuso Suotola. Just 17 seconds later, Leipzig made their situation even more comfortable. Bonn’s defense concentrated on F. Ondruschka on the right wing, who could still play a cross-field pass to the free left winger Yoram Wolbold, completing the attack with a direct shot. With Nyström being sent to the bench 90 seconds thereafter, the three goal burden felt to be too high for Bonn. Jan Zwak gave his team some hope with his goal in the 58th minute, but Leipzig could save that lead and win the match.
SSF Dragons Bonn – SC DHfK Leipzig – My View of the Match
SC DHfK Leipzig was the absolutely deserved winner of this match in my point of view. The 6-4 made them climb to the second position in the very close Bundesliga league table. The guests played more compact, more passionate, had good blocks in defense and quick attacks in offense. Even though Bonn was a bit of predictable in their game, they do have the individual strength to keep these matches close and stay dangerous.

The match was a rather average Floorball Bundesliga one, with turnovers and umpiring struggles, especially in the last period. Bonn also had some organisational trouble like the discipline of the ball kids – this Saturday simply did not feel to be their happy time.
