Apart from being ill, the week at the Infosys Hall of Fame Open 2024 in Newport, Rhode Island, has truly been amazing to me. After I shared my impressions of the 2019 tournament already with you, I felt that this week deserves a Pictured Story with some more detailed thoughts from my side.

Impressions of the Infosys Hall of Fame Open 2024
The setting of the Newport tournament and the Hall of Fame is truly amazing. There is a lovely touch of tradition around the grass court (and some practice hard courts). Three show courts are adjacent to each other, the practice courts are located on the long side of the center court, which can in fact hold two tennis courts next to each other. This also leads to very short routes on the grounds, making it very handy for me covering the events which were happening during the eight days of the tournament.
Center court seating is basic. There are even chairs right on the lawn. The largest stand is a metal construction. On the other side, there is hardly a court I ever attended, where you are that close to the action. Really fun to watch. For the show courts, you either stand at the fences or use one of the benches and stairs around to watch.
Of course, the Tennis Hall of Fame also honored the inductees. I introduced them to you in my preview post of the tournament. Furthermore, I featured the inductee press conference and the induction ceremonies.
Around The Horseshoe Court
The most picturesque part of the grounds is definitely the Horseshoe Court at the West end of the Hall of Fame area. It is likely the most beautiful tennis court in the world. It is a bit of narrow and rather used for ceremonies, sponsor events and similar parts of the tournament. Nonetheless, if you are a tennis fan, you just have to enjoy this lawn court once in your lifetime. Next to the court is also the entrance to the museum.
Food and Merchandise
Of course, there is a range of food, drinks and merchandise during the tournament. Outside tournament times, there is the museum store close to the West entrance gate. Of course, the range of items provided is not comparable to a major tournament, but it is actually quite nice. There were also some games by sponsors to keep the crowds entertained.
Another lovely way to enjoy yourself is visiting one of the talks the tournament holds during the tournament. The pictures below feature a chat with Chris Eubanks. Especially around the induction weekend, it is also fun to see tennis legends playing with ordinary hall of fame members on the grass courts. I saw players like Kim Clijsters, Andre Agassi or Tracy Austin – amazing to simply sit in the sun and be amazing how good their touch in the game actually still is.
Newport Tournament 2025 – Press Conference Impressions
A place which is typically hidden to the public is the lovely historic Casino Theater, which is also part of the International Tennis Hall of Fame premises. The pictures below feature the press conference about the future of the tournament. In 2025, there will be a parallel ATP 125 Challenger and WTA 125 tournament. That means that men and women will play together in parallel, which will lead to some setup changes of the environment.
