Wolfsburg might not be the first place which comes to your mind when you think about German touristic hotspots.. However, I made it to the city in Lower Saxony three times during 2024. Two were due to cultural events (a musical and a Jessica Lynn show there) and once, I traveled to Wolfsburg to explore the Autostadt (home of Volkswagen) and the outlet shopping mall with my wife. For two of my stays, I opted for the Innside by Melia Wolfsburg. A key argument for the first visit was its great location. However, I also simply enjoyed this hotel. Here is my review.

 

Innside by Melia Wolfsburg – Location

The location of the hotel is close to perfect. It is right across the main entrance of Wolfsburg Main Station. The station is served by national high speed rail as well as regional and local connections. There are also quite a bunch of local and regional bus connections, which either more or less depart in front of the hotel or at the central bus station some 200 meters away.

Apart from some old town area in the West of Wolfsburg, the city center is very concentrated. There is a discount grocery store in walking distance, which is very handy. You reach the Autostadt in some ten minutes. There is also a science museum, which you can reach in a less than five minutes walk from the hotel. Behind that museum, there is the outlet shopping mall, which also has some additional restaurant choices.

 

Innside by Melia Wolfsburg – Room

As said, I had two stays at the Innside by Melia Wolfsburg. For the first one, I booked an The INNSIDE room on points. The second time, my wife had one night, including breakfast, in August 2024. The refundable rate was 152.95 EUR. The pictures below are from my first stay. The second room we got was even a bit more spacious than this one. In general, the black design of he room might feel a bit of strange at first sight, but also has a really nice style. The large glass working desk suited my needs perfectly. A very nice feature of the Melia Group hotel is that the upper room categories come with a pre-filled minibar, which I absolutely loved.

During both stays, the room was absolutely clean. During my second stay, the room also featured a bathtub. But even the “smaller” bathroom was very spacious and ad a nice design. There was plenty of space for your own toiletry items. Overall, the room was really great at both visits.

 

Innside by Melia Wolfsburg – Breakfast

The breakfast area of the hotel is located behind the bar on reception level. The Innside by Melia really provides a lovely breakfast buffet with a wide range of options. There are numerous warm dishes as well as bread. Their selection of cereals fruit and other healthy options is really great and definitely exceeded my expectations. However, if you rather favor a sugary start of the day, you will very likely leave this buffet with a smile as well.

 

Innside by Melia Wolfsburg – Service

During both visits, I really enjoyed the friendly service by the hotel. There were some technical issues at check-in at one of the stays, which finally took us more than five minutes at the reception desk to check in. There is a small snack shop, also with some local products, at the reception. The hotel drives a gym, which is not overwhelmingly large, but makes good use of the space provided. The adjacent sauna is awesome as it offers views of the main station and the square in front of it.

 

Innside by Melia Wolfsburg – My View

The Innside by Melia is a really great hotel. The price is maybe higher than you might assume, but the service is really great (and there are much more expansive options). Wolfsburg does have some nice attractions, especially in relation to its automobile history. If you want to explore the city, I would definitely recommend this place.
