Doing periodic music postings from places with a significant time differences to Germany is always a bit of a challenge. I am currently traveling through Pennsylvania, West Virginia and Ohio, but I managed to scan the world of music from some catching new song releases. Here are my Songs of the Week as of 28th February 2025.
PowerSaint – The Revenant
My favorite song this year is in fact a debut single from a small, emerging power metal band from Germany, PowerSaint. They are a trio from the Allgäu region. Despite they just have 88 followers on Instagram at the time of writing this post, I feel that their music is really promising.
The Funeral Portrait feat. Ivan Moody – Holy Water
Holy Water teases the deluxe version of Greeting From Suffocate City, the most recent album by The Funeral Portrait. The band is a rock music quintet from Atlanta, who are active since 2014. For this song, they collaborated with Ivan Moody. He is known as the lead singer of Five Finger Death Punch and adds some rougher tunes to the song.
Ottolien – Mach’s Gut
Even though my list of new releases starts with rather harder riffs, most of my songs selected are rather gentle. They are a pop duo from Germany, consisting of two brothers. In April, they will have a brief tour through their home country.
Chase – Could You Love Me
Chase is an artist from Hamburg, who is also working as a barista. His new song is about accepting and loving yourself. A really nice one.
Van Morrison – Down To Joy
The following two songs have just barely missed the leading position of my Songs of the Week. I guess I don’t have to tell you too much about this music legend from Belfast. Van Morrison is turning 80 years old in August – and he is still doing lovely music.
Damiano David – Next Summer
Even if you don’t know the name Damiano David, you likely know his band, Maneskin. Apart from leading the 2021 Eurovision Song Contest-winning band, the Rome-born artist is also dong solo recordings. This one is an absolute beauty.
Bunch of Ace – My Guitar
Bunch of Ace is a twin sister duo. Alessja is drumming, Alandra plays the guitar and both are doing vocal parts. They are 16 years old and work towards their debut album No Trouble. Their new song My Guitar is the first track of it. A really lovely pop rock track.
Jonas Blue & Izzy Bizu – Lifeline
My song selection of this week closes with some dance pop. Jonas Blue is an English DJ and producer. For Lifeline, he is collaborating with Izzy Bizu. She is a British-Ethiopian singer-songwriter. Enjoy some happy vibes at the end of this post.
