In October 2024, I flew from Jakarta (CGK) Terminal 3 back to Abu Dhabi (AUH) via Colombo (CMB). The SriLankan A320 Business Class flight gave me the opportunity to check out a lounge at the main airport of the Indonesian capital. The Saphire Lounge driven by Plaza Premium was the one contracted by the airline, so I went for it. Here is my review.

Saphire Plaza Premium Lounge Jakarta (CGK) T3 – Location & Access

The Plaza Premium lounge is close to gates 5 and 6 at the international Terminal 3 in Jakarta (CGK). It is a 24 hour facility. As the only lounge alternative to this one is the Garuda Lounge (which is majorly for guests of the Indonesian airline and SkyTeam partners, it is contracted to multiple airlines. Among them are ANA, Emirates, Malaysia Airlines, Singapore Airlines, Thai Airways and Turkish Airlines. You can also purchase three hour lounge access for 54 USD. If you pre-book online, there is a certain discount. On top of that, the Saphire Lounge accepts lounge passes and also grants access to certain credit card holders.

In addition to the “normal” lounge, the Saphire Plaza Premium Lounge also offers a separate First Class lounge. In the rear of the standard lounge, there is also access to an area, which is exclusive for Singapore Airlines passengers. My review focuses on the normal lounge.

Saphire Plaza Premium Lounge Jakarta (CGK) T3 – Atmosphere

After passing the reception corridor, you reach the really large lounge. The windows on two sides give quite a lot of light and a nice atmosphere. There are different seating options, from rather cozy ones to work desk-alike long tables. As there are practically not any kind of dividers in the large, rectangular room, there is a certain lack of privacy and a certain level of noise. The spread of power outlets was quite fine. Close to the entrance of the lounge, there is also an area for families with kids. Even though the lounge was packed during my visit, the services in the lounge worked comparably smoothly.

Saphire Plaza Premium Lounge Jakarta (CGK) T3 – Food & Drink

The Saphire Plaza Premium Lounge at Jakarta T3 (CGK) offers a nice range of food. There are multiple areas, where you can get different kinds of bites. One area is rather for snacks, while there were sweet dishes, a fridge with salads and fruits, soups and other items. Warm meals are made to order, rather focusing on local dishes. This is a really nice service, but also comes with the downside that you get a beeper for notification, when your order is ready. The frequent sound through the rather large lounge is a bit on the bothering side. Obviously, that cooking station service also means that the warm dishes are of a comparably very good quality.Non-alcoholic drinks can be grabbed by your own. On top of that, the lounge offers a bar with a barista service, which was very nice and popular among the travelers.

A variety of services, starting with the reception desk, are share. However, other shared services are the showers and the possibility to have a massage. There are separate toilets for the two major areas, though. WiFi is provided by the lounge and works very well.

Saphire Plaza Premium Lounge Jakarta (CGK) T3 – My View

The downside of the lounge is its layout and thus the noise in there. That’s bad luck, as the lounge is really nice and provides good service. The maintenance is good. During peak times, it may be difficult to quickly find a seat though. Nonetheless, this place driven by Plaza Premium was definitely a positive experience right before leaving Jakarta.
