My November 2025 floorball trip to Finland started with an exciting match from the men’s league. On 21st November 2025, SC Classic faced JYMY. Not only that it was the first match in which I featured the Tampere hosts in their beautiful Blak Boks in the Ideapark shopping mall, it was also the first time I saw the guests from Nurmo, Seinäjöki. Classic was indeed the clear favorite in this match, which featured the third-placed team in the men’s F-Liiga against the second last one. However, JYMY had a rather low number of matches and so far and thus could improve their situation. Here is my match report.
This posting comes with a section of 361 major size pictures in the sports galleries.

SC Classic – JYMY – Match Report
Almost 800 spectators watched the match in the unique venue, which is a bit of dark for photography, but absolutely impressing. Classic was the clear favorite for this match – and while the first minutes felt like a rather close match, they opened scoring. At the end of the fifth minute, Oskari Heikkilä played a lovely pass from behind the oppenent’s goal to Konsta Tykkyläinen, who went for the first score of the evening. Some one minute later, the second goal for the hosts was in the books, shot from almost the same position. This time, it was Viljami Virtanen, who let Maali appear on the big screen behind one of the goals. The match felt almost decided after nine minutes, when a right wing attack was finalized successfully by Ilmo Leino.

There was a bit of hope for the JYMY fans during the first period, though. In the 13th minute, a shop by Karri Vaarala hit the leg of Lassi Toriseva, but went into the net for th first score of the guests. They might have gone for some positive momentum, but went into box play just a minute later. After a shot attempt, Niklas Aijälä hit a Classic defender with his stick in the face. Eemeli Salin took advantage of that in power play (16th) and finally scored the 4-1 goal, which was also the standing after twenty minutes.
JYMY closer to Classic, but no come back
The first goal in the second period was on the host team side again. In the 26th minute, Eetu Sikkinen completed a nice fast attack. However, the match had these moments, when JYMY did have some hope. Within 43 seconds (31st/32nd), Aijälä and Aatu Luhtala had a goal each, so that the gap closed down to two goals.

However, it was also part of the story of the match that in these situation, Classic acted very mature. They did not allow JYMY to develop a successful match plan and regained control. The sixth goal for his team felt to belong to Peteris Trekse, who beautifully drove a left wing attack in the 35th minutes. His pass into the slo was an easy conversion for Salin. Just two minutes later, the gap between the teams was four goals again. Markus Vainonpää profited from a right wing fast break driven by Ville Hietaranta.
Classic stays in control – and wins
The final period just saw one goal. Aplo Laitila raised the score in the 45th minute. After both defensive lines had blocked quite some shots so far, both teams had a few chances each. Classic, however, was saving energy for their two-match weekend and finally won 8-3.

SC Classic – JYMY – My View of the Match
First of all, I was really glad that I finally saw this already somehow legendary arena, Blak Boks. Not only the setting in the mall is unique, Classic’s home rink feels very modern and allows to give the people a great floorball show. Thanks to Classic, especially Sanni Nieminen and the team management, who also allowed me to refuel before the match and have a look into the really fascinating facilities they got there at Ideapark. If you ever sign a contract for their F-Liiga team – enjoy a sauna after the matches 😉

The match was a bit of a one-sided affair, as expected. However, JYMY did well and gave Classic some challenges. The presentation of the club and the league in this arena, however, is definitely what stays in my mind. If you happen to be around at a suitable time, you should definitely have a look into this place. Classic manages to present the sports at a level which just feels a bit higher than I saw so far in other teams, not only in Finland.
