Flying back home with Lufthansa after the impressing Gothia Innebandy Cup Opener in Scandinavium gave be the opportunity to check out another lounge at Gothenburg Airport (GOT). While SAS is still using Lufthansa Lounges in Germany, their transition from Star Alliance to SkyTeam did not allow the SAS Lounge option there anymore. Instead, I used a contracted lounge, The Lounge by Menzies at the Swedish airport. Here is my lounge review.

The Lounge by Menzies Gothenburg (GOT) – Location & Access

The lounge is located quite centrally in the Schengen Area, close to gate 18. The SAS Lounge is right next door. From both lounges, you can reach the majority of gates rather easily, also as Gothenburg Airport (GOT) is comparably compact.

The lounge opens daily from 4:30 to 19:30. On Mondays and Thursdays, the lounge closes at 20:15. There are several airlines which are contracted to the lounge. Briefly summed up, Menzies serves all non-SkyTeam airlines, This explicitly includes the Lufthansa Group, British Airways and Iberia, but also Finnair, Icelandair, aand others. Officially, it is also the lounge for thr Air France/KLM Group. The Menzies Lounge also accepts several lounge passes like Priority Pass and Dragon Pass and collaborates with certain credit card companies.

The Lounge by Menzies Gothenburg (GOT) – Atmosphere

The style of The Lounge by Menzies is actually quite nice. It is not too large, though, keeping in mind all the options to get in there. There are several sections of the lounge, coming with different styles, from restaurant-style seating to rather cozy options. Power outlets are typically provided underneath the benches. One corner features the buffet of the lounge.

The Lounge by Menzies Gothenburg (GOT) – Food & Drink

My flight departed at 6:20 – and I was really happy that the Landvetter Airport Hotel already serves basic breakfast from 3:30. The breakfast options at The Lounge by Menzies at Gothenburg Airport (GOT) were really limited. There was some bread and some healthy options. I could not spot any warm breakfast dishes or similar items.

In regards of drinks, the early morning selection was fine. I don’t go too much for alcohol at these times of the day, otherwise the offering might be limited. There are taps for wine, though.

The Lounge by Menzies Gothenburg (GOT) – Services

The staff was friendly and welcoming. The WiFi provided by the airport worked out very well. The lounge does not have any showers – and toilets neither. There are public toilets right in front of the lounge exists. Thus I guess that the same applies for the next-door SAS Lounge.

The Lounge by Menzies Gothenburg (GOT) – My View

I am sure I would have loved the view through the large windows, if it wouldn’t have been still dark at that time. The lounge does look nice, but neither in size nor in regards of nutrition, it is an overwhelming place to hang out. Still a good place to have a coffee, but don’t expect an extensive meal in here. Having no toilets is another negative aspect.
