While Jack Savoretti already had five appearances in my Songs of the Week, I never had an EP or album review by the British artist. His new album released on 10th April 2026 is a good opportunity to change that. Here is my review of We Will Always Be The Way We Were.
Jack Savoretti – About The Artist
Jack Savoretti is a British folk–rock and pop artist.. He was born on 10th October 1983 in London under the civil name Giovanni Edgar Charles Galletto-Savoretti.Jack’s father is Italian, his mother has Jewish Polish and German descent. He spend parts of his childhood in Lugano, Switzerland. Savoretti had his first single release in 2006 (Without). His debut album Between the Minds followed the year thereafter. Jack Savoretti – We Will Always Be The Way We Were – Track by Track
The thirteen song album lasts 49 minutes.

1. The Making Of You
The album starts with the slow and gentle The Making of You. Savoretti’s voice impresses in this one, when he takes you on a lovely lyrical journey. A nice opener to his 2026 album, two years after the released his latest album, Miss Italia. In later parts, the song becomes more rocking.
2. Can Hurt Sometimes
Can Hurt Sometimes is a beautiful folk ballad, which is driven by the piano and strings. Again, the song does have some more energy
3. We Will Always Be The Way We Were
The title track of the album is next. We Will Always Be The Way We Were has also been one of the feature songs of the promotion campaign of the album. The song is more rocking than the two songs before. This includes more present rhythmic elements. Especially the chorus with its very catching
4. Tick Tock
The fourth song begins with nothing but some piano notes and Savoretti’s voice. The song does present some additional instruments later. However, it has a slowly developing plot. While the first half of the four minute song has a rather melancholic touch, there are some hymnic elements in the second half. This overall leads to a very impressing.
5. Only Gonna Cry For You (feat. Steph Fraser)
Only Gonna Cry For You is a duet with the British folk-rock singer-songwriter Steph Fraser. The duet style recording with the female artist leads to a beautiful and impressing listen. Furthermore, it leads to a contrast to the songs before. Only Gonna Cry For You. The track is an intense listening experience.
6. Time Will Tell
Time Will Tell is the first song on We Will Always Be The Way We Were, which exceeds the five minute mark. The song has some really nice groovy sections. It invests into its plot, including some really nicely rocking parts of the melodic sight. Overall, this leads to a very enjoyable song.
7. Do It For Love
The beginning of Do It For Love reminds me of a dark western movie soundtracks. However, the song moves through multiple, very different kinds of atmosphere. The more, the easy and rhythmic chorus with some soulful elements adds a very different flavor as well. I am really fascinated by this previous single release.
8. Anything But A Fool
Anything But A Fool is a slow folk rock track. The slightly raspy voice of Savoretti dominates the listen. You just have to listen to him and enjoy hi storytelling.
9. Tempting Fate (feat. KT Tunstall)
For the ninth track, Savoretti works with another female British guest musician. KT Turnstall’s voice has the slightly raspy touch as well, which leads to a lot of harmony in this duet. The song feels staying in the romantic ballad range, but the instrumental bridge is also a treat for folk-rock lovers.
10. I Hear You Calling
The last song on We Will Always Be The Way We Were which has already been released beforehand is coming up next. I feel it is a wise decision to put this track on your rock music playlist.
11. Step By Step
Step by Step is another song on Savorettis record which starts with the keys and his voice only. The song is a lovely ballad, which later has some power ballad elements. Nonetheless, it is a another one for your romantic song playlist.
12. The One
Meet me in the city, I don’t wanna be alone tonight are the first words of this one. The song develops a nostalgic touch. You’re the only I’ve been waiting for – these lyrics in the chorus latest make you smile while listening to this beautiful song.
13. If I Get The Chance
The album closes with one of its most personal songs. I know I messed this up if I get the chance does not really describe a positive retrospective. However, the more, you enjoy this gentle chucker-out with strumming guitars.

I will add the Spotify widget once the album has been published.
Jack Savoretti – We Will Always Be The Way We Were – My View
There are some melodic similarities between the songs of We Will Always Be The Way We Were. Nonetheless, I really like this very straight and personal way of telling stories. Many songs have a nice plot, so that you also curiously enjoy what is coming up text. Thus, I overall like this album.
