Winter in Germany – after a couple of matches I had on my list had been cancelled, I felt it might be fun to have a brief view into junior floorball. The Northrhine-Westphalia State Floorball Association drove their Under 13 Small Field matchday in Heiligenhaus Northeast of Dusseldorf. Four teams, four matches (2×20 min each) and not too far away from my residence. Here are my match facts from the first two matches.
This posting comes with a section of 484 major size pictures in the sports galleries.

Dümptener Füchse – DJK Holzbüttgen 5-16 (1-8)
The first match of the day featured the teams of the Dümptener Füchse and DJK Holzbüttgen. While the first minutes felt to be quite interesting, Holzbüttgen more and more took control of the match and scored goal after goal. Quite sad that Dümpten more and more went for a solid defense – whenever they tried to launch an attack, they did do quite well and also felt having a reasonable playbook. You have to say, though, that Holzbüttgen is one of the two dominating teams in the league – they finally underlined this position.

In the last eight minutes, a mercy rule became active. When Holzbüttgen was in the lead by ten goals, the Dümpten coach was allowed to request that any effective timing is stopped (i.e. the time is running down even after goals) to keep the score not too high. Both teams felt to be somehow happy with the result after the match.
The Lineups
Dümptener Füchse: Lio Heinlein, Jan vom Eyser – Emil Grimm, Miriam Haller, Johannes Haspeslagh, Luisa Kallweit, Lennart Knauf, Piet Renner, Lennart Schaff, Franziska Schneider, Felix Winter, Verenice Karbowski
DJK Holzbüttgen: Vincent Haack, Mats Phillip – Elias Busch, Jarne Meints, Jonathan Reinecke, Matteo Porten, Milo Porten, Moritz Schiffgens, Nils Lorenz
Heljens Haie – SSF Dragons Bonn 1-10 (0-4)
The hosts had the second (and fourth) match of the day. Heljens Haie is the floorball section of SSVg 09/12 Heiligenhaus. They had to face SSF Dragons Bonn, the other dominating team in the league. Especially in the first half, the match was much better than the score might suggest. Heiligenhaus did struggle with offensive actions, but they did some good plays and a solid defense, headed by their netminder.

Thus, they absolutely deserved making their fans cheer for a goal in the 29th minute as well. Despite having the smaller lineup, Bonn was very disciplined and could create quite a lot of pressure on the opponent’s goal. Obviously, the had an absolutely deserved win in Heiligenhaus in their first match.
The Lineups
Heljens Haie: Lara Keiper – Noa Weith, Jonas Kluge, Clemens Lingelbach, Sophia Kretschmar, Naveen Kunnacheril, Tobias Körkerneyer, Zoe Camp, Lias Uhlig, Mara Osterloh, Leo Piec, Mia Strathmann, Markus Purgol, Marc John Fiedler
SSF Dragons Bonn: Julia Wota – Florian Alfter, Clara von der Recke, Franz Welschof, Marian Dahlhaus, Janno Stricker, Tom Müller
