Flyctory.com Pros

  • Nice, cozy lounge
  • Good services, regarding the size of the airport

My Firefly flights in Malaysia to and from Subang Airport (SZB) also offered me to explore a new lounge. The SkyLounge, driven by the company NAZA, is the only lounge option at the smaller airport of Kuala Lumpur. Here are my thoughts about it.

SkyLounge Subang (SZB) – Location & Access

The SkyLounge is located landside on the upper level of Subang Airport (SZB), which majorly features offices by airlines and service providers. A staircase is bringing you to the lounge entrance directly. It is more or less right across the route to security control. SkyLounge does not provide preferred access to that or even an own security control, so that you need to factor in some additional time after leaving the place. However, services at this majorly regional airport of Kuala Lumpur were very effective in my point of view.

I entered the SkyLounge as part of a Firefly Flex fare. Nowadays, you have to purchase it with the booking separately. Alternatively, the lounge accepts major lounge passports as well as grants access with certain local credit cards. The lounge is opening daily from 6:00 to 20:00.

SkyLounge Subang (SZB) – Atmosphere

Despite Subang (SZB) is a regional airport with majorly domestic flights, the lounge is really nice. It comes with different seating area, from rather bistro-style tables close to the buffet to cozy seats closer to the reception desk. I also liked that there are some nice design elements. Unfortunately, you could not buy one of the Firefly scale model planes directly. There was also a small Ducati merchandise store during my visit. The lounge has been quite popular during my visit, maybe also caused by the fact that the Flex fare is not that much more expansive than the basic options by Firefly.

SkyLounge Subang (SZB) – Food & Drink

The lounge offers free drinks, magazines and a couple of nice snacks. These include ready-made sandwiches as well as some cake. In addition, you can order hot food in a range up to 100 MYR. I did not make use of that option as I just had a good breakfast at Hilton Petaling Jaya before. Of course, there are posher nutrition options at other airports out there. But regarding the limited connection options at Subang Skypark, I felt that the service was really appropriate and nice.

SkyLounge Subang (SZB) – Services

The staff at the lounge was very friendly and helpful. WiFi is provided by the airport.

SkyLounge Subang (SZB) – My View

I really liked SkyLounge at Subang Airport (SZB). The place is really cozy and comfortable and adds a lot to the airport experience. SkyLounge definitely provides better services than you might expect at a small airport like this one.
