Gran Hotel La Laguna (Tenerife)

One of my favorite places on Tenerife is definitely its historic capital, San Cristobal de La Laguna. Gran Hotel La Laguna offers high quality accomodation close to the city centre and its attractions and in reasonable proximity to the airport. These were the key reasons why I gave it a try in November 2018. Here is my review.

Gran Hotel La Laguna – Location

The hotel is quite in the heart of the old town of La Laguna. The Tenerife Tram is in walking distance and provides and easy transport to Santa Cruz. There are a lot of restaurants and tourist stores around. La Laguna also offers some interesting museums.

The hotel offers a parking garage for 9 EUR / night, which might be necessary due to the narrow labyrinth of roads around. From Tenerife North Airport, I chose to take a taxi, which was roughly 15 Euro each way. The trip to the airport is slightly cheaper as the one-way roads around favor a more direct route.

Gran Hotel La Laguna – Rooms

I had two nights at the beginning of November for a room price of 172 EUR, tax included, breakfast excluded. The category I booked in was called Deluxe Single Room and offered quite posh accommodation. The room had everything I needed, including a comfy work space and a lovely bathroom. The only critics I had was the tap of the bathtub: as there is no handle around, people seem to use it to get out of the bathtub. This, of course, leads to impacts on the fixation of the tap.

Gran Hotel La Laguna – Breakfast / Restaurant

The restaurant is located near one of the patios and is used for breakfast and dinner. The selection at the breakfast buffet was comparably nice, especially on the pastry selection. 12 Euro per person was definitely a reasonable price for that kind of buffet.

I also used the restaurant on both evenings for dinner, as they offer a nice daily three-course set dinner for 15 Euro. The quality of food was very nice, the service was good as well.

Gran Hotel La Laguna – Services

The highest number of pictures I publish of Gran Hotel La Laguna is of the pool and sunbathing area. It is located on the rooftop of the hotel – sunbathing is on the one side, the pool on the other. The view over La Laguna and the surroundings is amazing. In November, I did not dare to swim, but I absolutely enjoyed to hang out there.

The hotel also offers a nice and spacious gym and massage services. Within the first 24 hours of your stay, you can have a welcome massage for 20 Euro, which is definitely a nice deal.

Gran Hotel La Laguna – My View

Gran Hotel La Laguna is definitely a beauty – I loved my two-night stay there very much. The rooms are nice, the building is great, the restaurant is doing a nice job. The pool and sunbathing area is overwhelming – bad luck that it was too cold for me to swim in early November. If you feel like beach holidays at Tenerife, you will likely end up in the South around Costa Adeje. But Santa Cruz and especially La Laguna are just beautiful – I absolutely recommend to spent some days here. With the facilities at the Gran Hotel, you still may go for some swim and get a tan during your siesta. Definitely a Flyctory.com Top Pick!
